Please identify my watch
Discussion
Hi all
My dad passed this watch to me approximately 10 years ago, he inherited it from his dad (my grandad).
I know it is at least 35 years old, as I remember seeing it in a drawer as a wee nipper, although my dad had it serviced and new strap put on by Rolex at Carlisle about 12 years ago.
I have no idea what kind of Rolex it is, nor its value.
Any help identifying it would be great - I have no papers or anything.
I am considering getting it serviced, and adding it to my household insurance, so any idea of value would also be useful.
I would never sell it, but I know I should wear it more often - it's the reason my dad gave it to me in the first place!!
Thanks in advance
John

If you do a search on serial numbers for Rolex you can find out.
From, foggy, memory you need to read the numbers between the lugs and search that out.
That's right. The model reference is engraved onto the case side in between the lugs at 12 o'clock, the serial number is engraved in between the lugs at 6 o'clock. You can use any of the Rolex serial number charts to identify the year of production. Here's oneFrom, foggy, memory you need to read the numbers between the lugs and search that out.

Hope this helps
Rolex at Carlisle? Jopsons The Jewellers?
If so, the guy who may well have done it still works there servicing (he's the owner), his son is in charge of sales and does their social media. If so, get in touch with the son stephen, and they'll more than likely help you out.
Insurance valuations etc they're always happy to help out with, they dumped their rolex authorised dealership a couple of years back but still sell, source and service. One of those good, well run family businesses IMO.
