I'm looking to buy this second hand. Can anyone suggest a reputable vendor? I've looked on ebay - but not sure I'm comfortable with this.
Thanks

My Dad bought his from here

http://www.watches.co.uk/watch/15923s/rolex-submar...

In fact, that's the exact one he bought. Paid about £4200 if I remember rightly. After doing the research, the 14060M is the one to have.

I like the 14060 myself but I wouldn't take it as gospel that its the one to have. Depends if you want date, non-date, how old, gloss dial, matte dial, etc etc. Do your research first, there are plenty of guides on the net and forums (try TZ) that go into more depth than the PH watches one does.

Do NOT buy anything on eBay if you aren't very experienced and clear in what you are doing (which you aren't - no offence). That site recommended is ok, watch finder is ok ( and they are very open to negotiation), Blowers, our own Dom Hackett, etc. You might pay a couple of hundred more from a decent dealer than on the 'bay but then you'll be getting a genuine, well presented piece, not a 'genuine fake' nono

Spent the day looking at watches. Where I was a Sub second hand is a ball hair less than new. A no date Sub was £5000 new and a Master II GMT was £5700 new. Second hand you were saving a couple of hundred quid.

Hi Andy.

I'm about to sell my 14060M if you're interested. V serial number on engraved rehaut. COSC face.
Boxes, papers, outer boxes all there. In very good condition. I've owned it since new.

Drop me a PM if you're interested.

Will reply in a few days due to shiftwork.

What a bizarre 'statement of fact'. That is merely someone, somewhere's opinion.

I`ve bought and sold through watches.co.uk and they were absolutely fine!

Prices are realistic, no hard sell etc

I went to secondtimeround at lunch to see their ladies selection. Do you think they're open to offers? I didn't want to embarrass myself by haggling, especially as they will sell well prior to Xmas.

Though I know of a Sub Date that would go at a very favourable price... wink

Recently bought a Sub 116610 Anniversary from Dom H and couldn't have been happier with the whole process.

Yes you're right it was a bit much.

Let me try again...

'Based on the research I did at the time and handling a few watches, I decided that the 14060M was my favourite'

My reasoning over the newest model is the absence of the newer shape lugs and the absence of the ceramic bezel. I view it as more of a 'classic' submariner than the newer shape.

Yes, all down to personal opinion, I agree on the older style lugs and bezel, although I've never liked the drilled lugs on the one in your link. I also like the date/cyclops more than without. They're all nice watches of course, so pick what you like and buy carefully through someone you trust. Dom H and Blowers are a good place to look, or head to Burlington Arcade (but do your homework).
