What a a silly thing to say 'as a watch its as much use as a chocolate teapot?....what?...it has hands it tells the time, and actually Nadal wears one whilst hitting a tennis ball at 1000 mph, so its tough and its light, just about floats in seawater...pretty much sounds like a more useful, hard wearing watch, bit more interesting than a heavy boring seadweller to me
But your right its the micro engineering I like, get a bit bored of looking at a watch face once you get used to it, something with depth & 3d and a bit more going on is more interesting just holds attention a little longer
Most people who do like watches like micro engineering , wether it be a patek with 1,500 parts and 11 complications or whatever, the engineering side is the interesting part strangely, so don't quite get your comment about criticizing that side of it either
I have a few watches, many traditionally styled but come on add some pizazz now & again

FWIW, I think that watch is a wonderful piece of engineering. It looks just as good from the back too.

Silly me? wobble Sorry - as you ignored the smiles in my post I assume you are in a serious mood. frown

That means I have to point out that the hands resemble short fat sausages pointing vaguely in the direction of the yellow dots which in turn are interrupted by some random screw heads and the makers name. Said, pokey bits (conveniently the same dull grey as the inside of the case do not actually reach the dots (or screws)making it pretty useless as an accurate timepiece - you certainly wouldn't notice, nor worry, if it was a minute out... But yes I agree, as a talking piece at dinner parties or when playing tennis it's fascinating.

A lot of these grail watches are beautiful, but they are like the Crown Jewels. They are far too gaudy to actually wear.

My grail is the Junghans Chronoscope. Its actually pretty cheap for an automatic chronograph, but it is hard to justify the expense.

My second grail is an original blue Tudor Snowflake.

Can I have one more grail? Tudor panda chronograph.

I have been looking at the new Tudor range since they appeared in the shops, but they are not as nice.

Whatever....stay stuck in the JLC/Rolex/brietling zone...yawn yawn, its good to be a little more adventurous now & again
Come on - you should know better than to lump JLC with the other two wink

JLC make some incredible complications which could put RM to shame...

And they also change models far too often, and most of the Master Compressor range look like they were designed by Stevie Wonder with a box of crayons, and all of the ones I've had could best be described as 'fragile'.

Apart from that, JLC are brilliant.

Only one for me, tourbillon suspended by wires, extremely light, funky case material....great thing as well 99.99% of people would just think its a cheapo casio or something, now just need to rustle up the half a million pounds asking price & bob will be my uncle

19 JEWELS = Elizabeth Duke.

Meh.
Whether you like the styling or not (and we won't mention readability!), you've got to admit the engineering is interesting.

Oh and Patek 5970. It just has to be done. The platinum with black dial is perfect, but the Rose Gold would do too smile

A Blingling Transocean on mesh. Not to everyones taste but it's the one watch that catches my eye everytime I walk past the jewelers.

But if I'm feeling a bit more classy then this has to be up there for me.
