Had an itch for the basic Speedmaster for a few months now, however looking today it seems there's either been a massive price hike, or its no longer available? Any info?

Was £2880 a few weeks back

p.s. would buy from these two as I can get a cracking discount through work

The Goldsmiths link in the OP seems to be some kind of presentation package including a NATO strap and book. A £500+ hike is a bit cheeky to say the least though!

The jewellers I got mine from still appears to have the original at the £2880 RRP:

ETA - Alternatively, speak to PH'er Dominic Hackett. He's always getting good prices on these.

It is my understanding that Omega have discontinued the model that comes in a basic box on a single strap and has been £2800ish recently. It's been replaced by the same watch in a larger presentation box which also comes with the other strap, link tool, book etc. for over well over £3k.

You're spot on - they have changed the reference number to reflect this. The same watch but with >cough< added value in accessories. The old ref is still avalaible but you'd have to hunt it down, I believe dealers will source them for you still if they're nice. Dom H would certainly be able to get you one.

Keep the faith - Dominic Hackett is your man - I'm sure he'll be able to come up with something for you. smile

The new Speedmaster Professional ref.no. is 311.30.42.30.01.005 - Flash (but very nice) new packaging but it's the same watch as the old model, except that the new model has screw in link pins which make adjustment easier. Quick photo of mine below...

Screwed links have been available on some models since at least 2007...
