I bought this Citizen EcoDrive for a trip around the world, and keep coming back to it for casual wear instead of my Rolex or Seamaster.

It's funny how the cheaper (not the bargain bucket crap) watches tend to become our most worn watches.

received this ebay bargain yesterday. It is totally unmarked and I love it.

That is very nice.

I have one of those, I love it. Am always on the look out for a matt black metal bracelet for it though...

Did Fortis really make the first automatic wristwatches?

John Harwood (an English watchmaker) designed and patented the first automatic wristwatch mechanism and sold them under his own name. Fortis may have manufactured part of them for him (or possible A.Schild?), but I think that's a pretty shoddy foundation to make such a claim.

Although probably not any worse than Rolex with their "invented and patented the world's first self-winding mechanism with a Perpetual rotor." Watch companies scrabbling for niche heritage is like car manufacturers trying to find a new Fastest around the Nurburgring.

Yep, Harwood and the dispute with Rolex is something I knew about. I've never heard of Fortis being credited with it so it seems like a weak claim to me....

Cheers, it's very retro smile
I'm the third owner, the second had it as part of a collection for best part of thirty years. It's in it's original box and had just been serviced by TAG. Interesting history with these watches, very few made. Commissioned by Audi Uk through Preston's of Bolton I believe. They were given to the works drivers and also sold publicly.

I thought they were called Date adjust. hehe

Where does the name date just come from?

Nice watch btw are you a doctor, whenever I see a GP or consultant they seem to have one. Beautiful watches but not too showy.

Such a cracking watch when it's on an oyster bracelet. Next on the list for me, I'm hoping Santa knows I've been a good boy this year as I was told to not buy myself a new watch or sunglasses before christmas biggrin

I've never actually seen a Day-Date on an oyster as far as I recall.

My Datejust is on a jubilee (I prefer that for the Datejust) but my Submariner is naturally enough on oyster
