Potentially, but times could have been hard or he may have wanted to free up funds for another venture / thing. I'd still not wear it. ecain63 said:
Still a bit off wearing it.
But not off for Boathouse to have sold it?I see people / civvies wearing Citizen Royal Marines / Red Arrows etc watches and wonder why they bought a mil badged watch to wear rather than a normal one without the the OTT details. Maybe they feel better about themselves for wearing it?? But that can only be so until they meet a genuine RM or Arrow and then the sleeves get pulled down to hide the evidence. I used to see young lads doing it in Exeter, pretending to be RM recruits to impress the chicks by getting their hair cut short and getting RM tatoos. Short lived as the young women of Exeter know as much about Lympstone as the lads in training. I can understand owning a Mil Sub, or other limited run Mil watch and keeping it in a box for investment or interest sake, but wearing it like you are one of the team is a bit gay. Like the people who wear Porsche or Ferrari merchandise to networking events when they are sporting nothing more than a Mondeo in unlit area of the car park. Gets on the tits of Ferrari and Porsche owners does it not?
Just my opinion, as I earned the right to wear my badge.
Hope all is well with you mate
I don't imagine he's using it as a walting tool, more that its something interesting with an SF connection. Don't see much harm if its just that. Of course, if he's giving people death stares and being taciturn beneath a gringo 'tache while making sure the barmaid gets an eyeful of his watch then, well, we all know what we think. From a watch point of view it's an interestingly connected one, but beyond that I wouldn't read too much into it; till shown otherwise anyway

Hey,
I thought it would be interesting to post a rare genuine Rolex watch with fellow watch collectors.I have only worn it once and it is now in my safe! I will not post pics on here again.

You don't have to justify buying/owning it.
It's a watch forum and we like to see different watches.

I like the fact it feels like zero compromise, when everything else over time is being made of cheaper parts, poorer quality manufacturing processes and techniques. It feels hewn from a solid chunk of metal (which it mostly is) and like it would go anywhere and last a number of lifetimes. Quite heavy yes, but it's nice to be reminded you're wearing it!Gassing Station | Watches | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
