I'm being pushed (quite willingly) into a Skagen of some description - My Dad has one, and is one of the few watches I've ever seen that I really like.

What are peoples' thoughts on them? I know they're not award-winning gold-plated investments, but I've yet to buy a watch that is anything more than a show-offy talking point.

This, FWIW, would be my biggest watch purchase - which perhaps gives you an idea of my experience with watches.

My favourite at the moment is:

Thoughts? Opinions? Man up and buy a Rolex?

If you like it, then go for it. That's what owning watches is all about.

^ this. It only matters whether you like it. Most people barely notice if you're wearing a watch, let alone recognise the brand of watch.

Watches are generally poor investments: the only question is how much they depreciate over time. Thus you should buy based on what suits you personally.

I rather like them ......they had them at Helsinki airport last time I was there and I nearly bought one ........they are as cheap as chips anyway ( I remember they were offering 70% discount at the airport) but look great on the wrist......go for it

I have one and love it. Can barely feel it on the wrist as it's so slim and lightweight.

You should have asked this question before Christmas - you'd have got a Skagen instead of a socket set..... xmas

I like them, but I've never got around to buying one.

They look much more expensive than their price which is good (and the antithesis of some watches! biggrin), but I've heard that the finish can wear quite quickly, especially the black one, so you might want to consider that.

They look good, keep good time and are very thin and light. Nice fashion watch. A cheaper alternative to Uniform Wares.

Nothing more to be said yes

However, the fact you've picked something reasonably priced, well made and good looking does help!

Nicely designed (obviously that's a little subjective), well made, decent enough movements, and honestly priced in the way certain other brands used to be. What's not to like?

I am still recovering from shock at a sensible and pleasant response from MG :-)

Having now recovered sufficiently I would add that I also really like the look of them, but a guy at work has one and relatively quickly the mesh strap started to show signs of rust!!!

I like mine, but the titanium strap isn't very strong. It broke just after a year. Very nice and light though and had comments from people who generally wear much more expensive watches smile

are you a TAG owner ? smile just to put the record straight, it's not what the watch costs, it's about value for money and I think the Skagen watches look like a well made watch at reasonable money ......what infuriates me are lemmings who pay 2k for a watch that probably should be £300

Might even buy a Skagen myself now that my watch collection has been sold off .........i might even go all humble .......Na .....thats not going to happen

I bought myself the watch pictured in the op. I love it, being so small and lightweight it's lovely to wear, for a slim watch the dial has a surprising amount of depth an detail and the colour looks really vibrant in the light.
It's a relatively inexpensive watch but draws a surprising amount of attention.
The only down side is the mesh strap can be quite easy to damage, mine has a dent in it and others have broken. I guess it can't take the abuse my monster can but its worn around the office so not problem for me.

My wife got me this for my birthday. I love it - great simple design, very light and comfortable and slides under shirt cuffs. The strap supplied with it was ste though and rotted quickly - now been replaced with a black lizard skin affair:

I have one very similar to this, but without the subdial

It's ultra light and very comfortable to wear, especially under a shirt sleeve as the case is so thin.
The one in the op looks great so go for it!

He already has! - he's been round to show it off! I'm his old man, and apparently to blame for his latest purchase (I have one of these as my daily wearer)

I have to say though - the blue face and black case / bracelet is very nice - slightly envious....

Arrived this morning - V. happy!

Having small, frail, girly wrists I was worried it would look too big, and that the strap wouldn't go small enough. It appears the Danes have thought of this and it (just) fits spot-on!

that's 3/10 spots in my watch box full. What next? wobble
