Yes I have read the reviews, and made the decision that it will be very useful to me, basis peak is far from perfect, but its usefulness is why I have worn it now for many weeks. Why wait?..software updates come along regularly , the device looks ok to me anyway, everything is software, so yes it may be a touch buggy to start with , so what, everything is nowadays...convinced its usefulness will far outweigh its shortcomings, and to be hones £350 isn't a lot of cash as far as I am concerned, its not like I am blowing a couple of grand along the way
That's fair enough. It's good that there are people willing to be early adopters, it will ultimately make the second and third generations better products. I couldn't spend £350 on something that wasn't exactly what I wanted or had things that needed to be ironed out, but then I'm in the position where £350 is a serious amount of money to spend on a gadget.

I have ordered my apple watch & really looking forward to getting it. Don't understand all the negativity towards it at all. I have a considerable collection of high quality timepieces, and to be honest maybe once I have had one a while , I get a bit bored of looking at it, so maybe the apple watch will actually help me stop buying watches!, with it having various faces, and I dare say many more will be added along the way too, so will stem the one watch face boredom.
I also currently have enjoyed wearing a basis peak, I am very active so enjoy having my steps & Heart rate info to hand, and indeed sleep quality etc (not sure how good that is though to be honest )
So really for me the apple watch looks a fantastic idea, I expect it to perform better than the basis & the various watch faces look pretty cool, it will be totally accurate & very useful for things like reading txts on the go, changing music on my phone etc..I do a lot of walking so great to leave the phone in a pocket etc
Roll on 4 weeks or so when it arrives...
I am not a silly fashion chump buying a load of rubbish for the sake of it as the nay sayers seem to think, I fully expect the watch to be a most useful gadget indeed to me and my lifestyle and I think those that couldn't see such a thing as a useful device are just miserable anti anything types that the world seems full of nowadays
I think the issue is that as you say it will fit into your life nicely, I can't see it fitting into my life at all. Everyone is different and the same gadgets don't appeal to everybody.

I wouldn't describe myself as a 'miserable anti anything type'. I just don't particularly want one. I don't have any desire to read texts on my wrist.

I don't think it's a bad product, it's a product which is irrelevant to my needs.

Watches aren't gadgets. Apple's is. It's a wrist phone. No more a watch than an iPhone is.

It's not even a wrist phone, you need a phone connected for it to work. hehe

My iPhone battery is already half-f***d after 12 months. If it was from just about any other manufacturer I'd stick a new battery in it. But not Apple, oh no. That'll be a whole new iPhone, sir. And it's a company phone and they won't do it. Actually, thinking about it, I can opt out in June and get a Moto G for £99 and know that I'll be able to take business calls after 5.00pm.

Meanwhile my wife took out a contract on an iPhone with sod-all memory so it runs about two apps and can store about 20 photos (as long as you don't want any music on it). With just about any other manufacturer you could just stick a lager card in. But with Apple? No, madam, you'll have to wait till the end of the contract to get a new shiny one.

FFS how do they get away with this? It's beyond me.
Apple would have swapped a faulty battery for free, within two years - sometimes longer.

You could have replaced the battery yourself, with a bit of research.

You could have got Apple to replace the battery, for little more than buying a new battery. A good service.

Sorry, but this bks about iPhones not being able to have their battery replaced is just that - bks.

For these exact reasons my brother and I got rid of our iPhones at the same time. I have a Sony Xperia Z2 and he has a Moto G. And we have both preferred them from the first moment (and not just because of the money we saved).

A friend of a friend said "if you didn't spend so much money on watches and cars, you could afford an iPhone."
He couldn't understand that I'd rather have the cars and watches and I'd rather have the Sony even if it was more expensive than the iPhone.
I wouldn't be at surprised if your mate also buys all his music through iTunes....

Anyway, I'm off to look at Experias - good suggestion.

Fair enough; I stand corrected. I just had bad experiences with a couple of iPods back in the day. They dies, it was a battery problem, I had no recourse. I will ask my IT department to sort me a new battery for the phone.

But I will still get it in the neck from my wife who has an iPhone with virtually no useable memory......

I'm not knocking the success of Apple - they are amazingly profitable and do so by, for example, getting consumers to spend vast amount on commodity memory and, of course, on their digital rights management platform.

It's like mass-market B&O.

Astonishing but not something I feel compelled to buy.

Grumble over.

Thought about ordering and now the delivery dates are circa June so changed my mind. Would have been a frivolous purchase for me, however I may try and buy one in the US when on my holidays for circa £40 less. I can see myself using this for a while and then just selling it.

as long as you don't assume it will hold its value as well as the iPhone!

No but a 20% depreciation I can stomach. Plus if I buy from the US there is a saving on the new price in any case. What surprised me is the cost of the straps! Upton £200+ for straps??!!

Where do u get June from ?... 4-6 weeks it says yesterday when I ordered mine
I do think the one issue I will have is with the having to charge it daily, used to wearing watches that don't need charging at all, even my basis peak goes 4 days on a charge and then only takes an hour to charge, so yes I think the Bluetooth connection to the phone will kill the iPhone battery as well as the watch so we shall see if that works out ok or if it becomes a bit of a frustration, spend my life charging things, iPhone,iPad, garmin edge, bike lights, basis peak, etc etc etc

Well, June is only 7 weeks away!

Just checked on the Apple store and it's showing as June delivery for the 42mm Sport watch and I assume others.

Looked at them at the apple store at weekend, originally was going for the 'watch' version on stainless steel...that was 4 -6 weeks away, having now viewed them have decided on the sport version, just prefered the aluminium case and also nice & light, so watch order cancelled, sport version ordered...and yes you are right, now says delivery is June, so bit of a wait then, still on the plus side viewing them has saved me a few quid in now changing to the 'cheap' version!!

Never thought they would be so expensive.

I'd have to go for stainless steel. That aluminium you get on the back of phones and iPads, I find that to be a horrible texture on the skin. Its like smooth but also grainy.

Oh, it has value to some. It is a goldmine when it comes to user data collection. Otherwise, yes, it is mostly useless and overpriced.
