Obviously you went in there with your mind made up - if you don't like it, don't get one - simple as that. An estimated 2-3 million sold, but clearly you're so much more informed and technically savvy so thanks for your opinion...
Your welcome.

In all seriousness, I went in with quite the opposite opinion. I am wall to wall apple at home and at work. I think it's a great brand and I was utterly convinced the Apple Watch would be a winner for me. The fact that I was bitterly disappointed probably explains why my views above come across so negative. Sorry, but that's the way I see it.
You're not allowed to not like it.

Thanks to all the people who have replied to say they're not getting one. Fantastically helpful contribution there. Thanks again. Please let us know of any other watches/gadgets you're not getting so we're kept up to date.

Yes quite, anyone not wishing to say 'Yay, we love Apple and here is my £500!!1' stay off this thread.

In other news, my brother in law had one delivered to my house today. Looks pretty swish in dark grey metal.

Why the fk would you automatically default to that as a reaction? Seriously?

Is it not possible to like a single Apple product without being labelled a "fanboy"? FFS.

Sorry 205, I came late to this thread. Just felt like your post was wilfully quoshing healthy debate. We all know that PH thrives on healthy debate, right? Anyway, keep your wig on chum and enjoy your new watch!

By the way, I don't automatically default to anything in particular. I like to play it fast and loose, not by the rules. Give it a try sometime.

You're welcome
To be of service regarding your request

I won't be getting one, as the battery doesn't last long enough, I don't want to be charging up yet another thing nightly, I'm not that lazy and my arms are long enough to reach into my pocket for my iPhone, with a better larger screen.
Also, IMO I don't need to have a gadget that for most apps piggybacks the gadget I already have on my person.

I won't be getting an iPhone 6 or 6+ as they are just too big for me
I won't be getting a Richard Mille watch as to my eyes they are hideous
I won't be getting a Hublot watch, as I think they are over priced and can't wear anything over 40mm anyway
I won't be getting a George Forman Grill, as I'm quite capable of using the cooker grill for bacon........... mmmmm bacon
I won't be getting a Halo Lifestyle Oracle, as my girlfriend is a nutritionalist and personal trainer, also the Halo is Sci-Fi

So you're up to date with my none purchases, I hope that make your day a little brighter, enjoy smile

Because this is a 'watch' forum, not an 'IT and Technology' forum. By posting on this forum, you are seeking the opinions on the Apple watch from a bunch of people who are in the main interested in traditional ticking time pieces. Whilst the Apple watch may be an awesome bit of technology, that doesn't mean it's an awesome watch does it?

If it's as accurate as claimed, it'll be more accurate than most of the Richard Mille's, etc etc that are mentioned here. As the primary function of a watch is to tell the time, surely that makes it awesome as a watch?

Don't be silly, nobody buys a Richard Mille to tell the time as a primary function hehe

you can get a perfectly accurate watch for a tenner. Neither a mechanical luxury watch, or this thing are anywhere near about the time.

I genuinely think that this might be the thing that many Apple zealot draw the line at. I can understand people having a macbook and an iphone, and even an ipad aswell... but i think the watch will be a bridge too far for many of them.

i am predisposed not to like it though as the whole concept just pisses me off.

You can't really lead a healthy lifestyle if you need electronic gadgets to tell you that you are 'being' healthy.
Then again maybe some do as they aren't as in tune with their body as they should be.
For me the Apple wrist device holds no interest and for me, doesn't add or enhance anything to me digital existence, so I'll not be getting one, for now at least.
Do you need a device to tell you when you are being a smug tt, or do you realise all by yourself?

My daughter (iSheep hehe) wants one, are they are pretty much the same price or is there somewhere to get the best price?

EDIT - what are the differences in £250 and £500. Mk1 and Mk2?

The 250 is the sports watch so its made from a light weight aluminum.
500 plus has safire glass. If you go on the apple website the specs are on there.

Well I see this thread has reared up again, and good timing may as well add my thoughts coming upto my apple watch anniversary
Yep got mine on the 20th april last year, wasn't really sure if I would get bored of it & go back to one of my mechanical offerings , but alas no I haven't, my apple watch has stood the test and been my daily watch for the year, and I still very much use many of its functions everyday, to me it has made my one dimensional mechanical watches a little dull,so they have been in the safe collecting dust this year!
What do I like/use with the apple watch?....
Firstly I like the light weight ( mine is a sport ) , like the grey colour, wears very well indeed
2) the straps are great, I workout a lot so use the silicone straps, also have the metal link straps & nice soft brown leather one for best. All the straps are top quality, and you can change them in seconds, no stupid springbars etc. The metal link bracelet is a wonderfully designed thing, you can add links or take them out by just pressing and sliding them, again no need for fiddly tools...its about time the rest of the watch industry caught up with this..very old fashioned & fiddly the way most strap changes are on normal watches
3) like the ability to change the faces & what I view on them, in fact I think as a watch collector I used to get bored of the same watch face, no matter how I loved my watch when I first got it, I would usually tire of looking at it after a period of time & then use it as an excuse to buy a new one...the apple watch has stemmed that need
4) contrary to the rubbish post above about ' I don't need a watch to tell me I lead a health lifestyle blah blah' ...well wake up its incredibly useful...I am a pretty fir bloke, cycle & row approx. 5,000 plus miles a year, walk a lot too. I find it most useful & interesting to see how many active calories I have burned/how many steps I have taken, what my avg heart rate is etc...if you cannot see this watch as been a useful tool in the exercise world then you are a fool. It does help to encourage you, but if you don't feel you need encouragement then its a great recording tool. I really like getting my reward badges, seeing my weekly summaries having burnt 15k active calories last week etc...all good /interesting stuff
5) trivia...on holiday over the year, the watch changes to the time of whatever country, and I display a 2nd time zone on the face showing the London time...
6) watch is always accurate , spot on time
7) charge it at night generally sits on its side makes a nice night clock
8) use the alarm , easy to set, nice sound on waking
9) with heartwatch app monitor my sleep from time to time, again nothing earth shattering , but quite interesting to see your heart rate etc over your sleep now and again. Interesting to see howmy heart rate is slightly elevated when I have a cold etc...
10) out & about see how many steps I am taking, always get in my 10k a day...well most days anyway
11) reading txt message whilst out & about/been able to control audio book controls whilst the phone is in the pocket etc

So really overall rather than tire of my apple watch , I have found it more & more useful...makes wearing an analogue watch just seem a tad dull to me nowadays...which is a shame as I have quite a few nice ones, but they do come out now & again for the odd night out etc

Clearly I am a sheep , so bah bah bah haters..fire away......

Cannot say I am over keen on that nylon strap , looks too small where it connects to the watch, did you get the right size?...prefer straps that are the same width as the body where it meets the case, just sort of looks better IMHO
really like my black link bracelet at the mo...yes heart rate is high , just off the rowing machine

Here's your negative comment. Mine is sat in a drawer.

Luckily I never paid for it but I tried to like it for two weeks without much success. It was slow, finicky to use and the battery charge was a royal pain in the arse. Also I felt it never left me alone! Constantly pinging, buzzing and just generally getting on my nerves a lot. I know you can customise the notifications, but the beauty of a phone is I can silence it and just leave it to one side with a flick of a switch. I don't want to waste my time configuring when I want to hear about something on my wrist. Maybe that's just me?

At the end of the day, it's not the amazing, life-changing watch Apple raved on about for so long and it's clear from the lack of news from Apple, it's no longer a priority product any more. The fact is, the technology isn't quite ready yet and the majority of people simply don't have a need or want for such a device.

Several things need to be addressed first:

- Battery life. It needs to last at very least a whole week. Constantly charging it is just annoying and another bloody cable to carry and my watch with my regular use would last no more than half a day. Useless. I want to keep my watch on my wrist. Not my desk charging.

- Speed. It's so slow doing anything at all. The last update I did took almost 3 hours to run!

- Purpose. What *is* the real purpose of an Apple Watch? Apart from health tracking which is fitbit does for a fraction of the price (and my Withings Activité minus the heart rate), there is no purpose for using an Apple Watch. The apps are just info screens of apps from the phone (which you need to have at all times to make it work), and it's well...useless! Why spend ages fiddling for a slow, app on your wrist when you can grab your phone and see all the info plus more in a fraction of the time.

- Design. OK this is very subjective but personally, I think it's ugly. Beautifully made, but so ugly. I really didn't like looking at my wrist while I wore my Apple Watch.

I get people love it, but you are quite unique. The fashion statement is now gone so it's geeks and tech aficionado's that have are the only buyers now. Only the other day I was in my local Apple store and the Apple Watch table has been moved into the corner and replaced with the iPhone SE's. Nobody was looking at the watches, but almost every other table was full. Even the store employees didn't wear them.

Another Newton for Apple? Maybe. In the initial sales, they've probably made back their money but I doubt it'll be classed as a successful product in years to come. Innovative, yes. Brilliant engineering, yes. Useful? No.

As a final thought, I would like to say I'm looking forward to seeing what the next generation watch offers. This kind of stuff drives innovation and technology so perhaps the new version will have the battery life I want, and be able to work more independently from my iPhone? Let's see what Apple offers.

In the meantime, I'll continue wearing my traditional mechanical watches, or my Withings Activité. Another beautiful piece of technological innovation.

Is that the apple bracelet or a cheaper version?

My brother said same about nylon strap but I like it. And definitely the right size.
