I have a YG Daytona as my daily driver and a Hublot and AP Royal Oak Offshore for other occasions. I am quite a gadget fiend and have, having reviewed the Apple website, decided to go with an Apple watch for occasions when my other watches don't suit an occasion or activity.
Is anyone else going to buy one and if so why?

I like the look of the black stainless steel one with bracelet, but I won't be buying one.
I though one of my mates would be getting one, he's a big Apple fan & buys most of their gadgets, but he seemed pretty shocked by the prices, which I thought seemed pretty reasonable compared to normal watches.

I like the concept but not the execution - even the bling versions are pretty ugly.
Better to hold fire and wait for the 2nd or 3rd version which will inevitably be much, much better.
...and the 4th & 5th iterations will be even better, new tech, etc...Better to hold fire and wait for the 2nd or 3rd version which will inevitably be much, much better.
It's a tough one to drop that amount of cash on something that will no doubt have a very limited tech life, but as you say, the idea is fantastic and it will be brilliant to see how it evolves along with other 'smartwear'.
Yep I will have the sports version ...currently wear a basis peak, as like to see my activity etc and resting heat rate..expecting the apple watch to be a big step forward from the basis.Very interesting gadget to play with hopefully. Bit worried it might make my watch collection redundant though!!

Battery life on the Apple Watch kinda precludes it from giving you a proper resting heart rate reading. It won't be any more accurate than the basis (or other similar optical HRMs), so will be pretty useless for a lot of gym work (although they're surprisingly accurate on running, useless on weight training).Sure, its an interesting gadget, but it really is very much a v1 device. They'll get it right (or less wrong?) next year.

Well, now prices have been announced, anyone in?
The pricing on the 'Edition' (Gold) versions seems utterly mental. £13,500 for a gold-plated version of a £400 watch? Even as a fully signed-up Apple Fanboy, they can fk right off.
Don't let facts ruin a good rant, but the Edition versions are machined from solid 18K yellow and rose gold blanks. The pricing on the 'Edition' (Gold) versions seems utterly mental. £13,500 for a gold-plated version of a £400 watch? Even as a fully signed-up Apple Fanboy, they can fk right off.
