Been having a think the last few days about my modest collection which is down to 5 nice ones and a couple of beaters. I have tried over the last couple of years to put together what I think is my perfect combination of my watch needs. I now feel really satisfied, almost to the point I have stopped looking at potential buys on TZ SC. So as the title guys where are you at. Post a picture of your favourite pieces together.

1) A smart Dress watch GO Panomatic
2) A classic icon wear anytime watch SS Submariner
3) A watch for holidays swimming diving etc Omega Professional 300 on rubber
4) A top Sports watch Omega PO
5) A classic watch for all seasons Explorer 1 39mm

Back in 2001, I started earning 'the good money' having worked hard in my career....so I treated myself to a brand-new Seamaster Automatic. At the time, £1,200 was a lot of poppy....I'm quite shocked to see that they're now approaching double that price! yikes

Aaanyway....I had thoughts of using my Seamaster for a few years, then maybe adding to it with a Speedmaster, and then maybe a Tag Monaco...ooh, and vintage Carteirs are nice too biggrin

However, the recession and more than a lot of bad luck means that my 'watch collection' still currently resembles one...my original Seamaster, lol!

That said, it's now 14 years old and still keeps breathtakingly accurate time....and still looks as good as the day I bought it, despite using it every single day. So, a vote for the amazing build quality of these at least I guess...

There are 2 big gaps in my collection, a Roger Smith Series 2 in platinum and an 1976 Omega Geneve automatic with the blue face. The Roger Smith is very much out of range, but the Omega, well it's just a question of finding the right one and it will be my treat when my business comes good.

Out of the current collection, I wear the Android the least, (it's top left and also the one I'd sell first), and it's a 3-way toss-up between my Tissot Titanium, Voltime and Lorne's Field Engineer as to what's my current favourite.

The Rotary (top right) is apparently unrepairable which is a big shame as that has the most sentimental value of the lot frown

I can't provide photographs as none of the watches are with me at the moment....

However, I am looking for just two more watches, then my small collection will be complete.

1 GPS controlled watch, either a Citizen or Seiko, it's just a really cool watch and considering the amount that my wife and I travel, pretty useful.

2 Lehmann Power Reserve Pointer Date

Then the collection will be complete biggrin

I have 6, but am in a state of flux as some have lost their appeal while there are other pieces out there that I keep thinking about.

From left:

Ball Fireman II - I'm keeping this. Doesn't photograph well, looks much more striking in the flesh. I'm a sucker for tritium tubes.

Fortis Cosmonaut's Day/Date - My first decent watch. It looks tiny nowadays, the bracelet rattles, it needs a service.... Haven't worn it for years. Will probably flip it.

TAG F1 - Owned a 1st gen one of these 20 years ago, and liked this version when it came out. Nowadays I think it looks like cheap plastic quartz tat; another watch that I never wear!

Longines Hydroconquest 41mm Auto - Love at first sight! Loads of watch for the money, looks great, very well-made. Will probably keep. Now back on the steel bracelet.

Ball Mad Cow - Always wanted a Ball Engineer with the tritium numerals. Will keep, but would chop it for a Ball Trieste chrono if one came along...

Breitling Aerospace - Have wanted one for 25 years, finally got this recently. Now worn the most, use the chrono at work daily, also gets me free beer at the Air Tattoo.

I don't have any high-end watch aspirations, but do have room for a Speedmaster X-33, Offshore Professional Field Engineer (good choice in the collection above!), Tudor Pelagos and a Sinn 857UTC.

Here's half of it:

l-r:
Zenith A386; an original from the first line up of auto-chronos from Zenith.
Omega Speedmaster 376.0822; last evolution using Lemania - auto, day/date, 24hr - moonwatch case.
Lemania SAAF; issued to the South African Air Force in the early eighties, nice slim count-down bezel and deleted chrono hour hand - powered by slower beated 5100 - the 5012.
Heuer Bund Sternzeit; the classic Bund in rare form - regulated to sidereal time for positioning of artillery units.
Sinn 156; this is an early one without the 24hr hand at 12 o'clock.
Sinn EZM1 LE: the last generation of EZM1.
Sinn EZM1 ZUZ; one of the first EZMs - issued.
Tutima Commando; again, ex-issue to ZUZ - the bezel is additional to the civilian version.

At the moment I have 3:

1) iconic watch for any occasion - Rolex Seadweller 16600
2) Weekend watch - IWC Pilot Chrono 3717
3) Holiday watch/swimming etc - Casio G-Shock G2900F

Currently in the process of deciding on a dress watch for my wedding and think a JLC of some kind (maybe Master Geographic) should be incoming soon smile

Currently have:

Rolex Yachtmaster (blue face) for special occasions (also another in storage for my son).
Bremont Royal Marines Ltd edition as an investment.
Omega Seamaster Pro Chrono which is my lifetime keeper (wife bought me it when we got engaged)
Tudor Pelagos as my fashionable and functional beater / Sub alternative.
Omega Planet Ocean Sochi edition for same reasons as Pelagos.
Longines Hydroconquest super size face bought as a bargain.
Tag Heuer F1 Gulf edition bought prior to LM 2013 (currently raffling it for charity)

Currently looking at orange seamaster / PO as a next purchase along with vintage submariner.

Apart from a few odd ones that I'm looking to get rid of. I'm down to a rotation of 2. A 1978 DJ and a 1989 DD. I'm extremely happy with both of them with the only regret I wouldn't mind my Exp 2 back so I may look at getting one again in the future.

I'm pretty happy with my collection at the moment.

I have four overall. In order of acquisition (oldest first):

Black Rotary Aquaspeed chronograph. (Worn as my work watch for 3.5 years, still looking good.)

Rotary Skeleton Dial. (Looks pretty interesting, not worn often as it's not exactly the most functional piece I have.)

Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 42mm. (My first nice watch, Was a toss up between this and a Speedy. This won.)

Omega Seamaster Professional Quartz "Bond". (Wanted one since I saw Goldeneye. Deliberately bought a non-mint one so I wouldn't be so precious about wearing it in a situation where it might have a tiny chance of getting a bit scratched. Now seems to be my daily work watch as it's so comfy.)

70+ pieces here, cut down from 100+ about a year ago.

I not only have to have the right style of watch, but the matching colour to my clothes/bag/shoes.

Dear God I'm sad.

As of this morning, I have 13 watches in the watch box. It's a 15 space box and I know the two I want to fill it - the problem is I can't have them as I can't / won't condense what I have further. My collection has gone from 50 or so pieces to this frown

They are a JLC Reverso Perpetual Calendar and the JLC Perpetual Calendar 8 Days in steel. Both are available to me at a good price, but are out of range for the forseeable future.

/oh, I also need a quartz beater - a Seiko Tuna will do the trick. Of course the thing about a 15 slot watch box is that you need 16 watches as one is always on your wrist wink

Noticeable by their absence are AP, Panerai and Omega. I will have to see how that goes...
