I notice that Creation are now selling Sicura watches, right in my preferred price point at under £100.

Anyone know anything about these, look sturdy and certainly big enough for my over sized wrists.

The OLD Sicura company bought Breitling, so effectively Sicura are now Breitling, but I presume this name has lapsed and been snapped up by some Chinese brand.

No idea if Creation's Sicuras are any good I'm afraid though.

Here's a 'proper' Sicura smile

Thanks.

So cheap and some curiosity value, Christ I don't really need another watch but it's becoming tempting.

Breitling are indeed really Sicura. Post-failure Breitling owners tend to get a little frosty when you point this out.

Some throw their toys out of their pram.

Breitling are hardly alone in having been bought though...

Owning a pre-failure, post-failure Breitling and a Sicura, they all have virtues.

I don't the history of ALL makes, but you could probably do the same game with nearly every make...

Hm. I'm not sure the Sicuras on Creation's site are collectable like they say. The old Sicuras are mildly collectable, though.

I do have a world time diver's one. It has "Saigon" as one of the cities. biggrin

They weren't 'bought' in the context that I believe that you mean. They stopped trading and all assets were sold (mostly to O&W). The name was sold to Sicura, but that was pretty much it - the name in an envelope.

True, I did know it wasn't bought as a going concern. Hence the Sinn 'Navitimers'smile

Still, as an old and new Breitling owner (and a Sicura one), I don't feel any negativity.

Odd, then, that Sicura (As a name) also seems to have been sold (or reused, at least, I guess these thing lapse if not registered).

My (complete) guess that the name had been allowed to lapse, like Smiths and Precista et al, and the registered by an enterprising chancer.
