I wouldn't say my Heritage chrono was as well made as either my Breitlings or Omegas.

I certainly didn't expect the shield logo parts to fall out of the crown just outside of warranty,,.
Ouch. Got to be worth seeing if Tudor would sort something out gratis though, no?

I'm a long term fan of that watch, grey dial / black subdial for me please, never got around to trying one though.

They're not interested in the slightest, I've asked. When it comes round to next service I'll buy a replacement and get it fitted.

It's still a good looking watch and for the money, very little I fancy.

I suppose that out of warranty is just that, however for them to show no interest in even meeting you half way considering that good PR can generate kudos for a relatively new (relaunched) brand comes across as a little daft.

They use Swatch Eta movements though. Why dont they use Rolex movements if a Rolex sub brand?
Because then they'd cost as much as a Rolex and nobody would buy them.......simples!
You'll find out quite soon, if the rumour mill is correct!

On my fairly-recent "which watch" thread, I posted after I went and got my hands on a Pelagos, which, prior to looking at them, I really liked the look of.

What I said afterwards (and I only post this for balance, we all like different things and some will love watches that others hate ad infinitum) was:

I finally got my hands on a Pelagos today. Unfortunately, and I'm sorry all you existing owners, no offence whatsoever intended, but I was completely underwhelmed. Disappointingly so. I have seen comments about the fine machining and finish, but to me it seemed slightly cheaply made (even if it isn't) - those sharp edges seemed a tad unfinished. It did look nice on a rubber strap, but not nice enough. Also, being titanium, I thought it would be lighter than a lot of other watches; not in any way a dealbreaker (I like a heavy watch) but I was surprised. So, I think that might be off my list.

I have since purchased a ceramic-bezel Seamaster PO and I love it.

It certainly seems strange.
I sent my 2000 series Tag back to the manufacturer via my local jeweller because the bezel started turning in both directions.
It was 5 years out of warranty and I told the jeweller that whilst I realised it was out of warranty, I wasn't impressed.
Evidently, Tag agreed because they fixed it for free.

I'd have thought that level of service was the very least to be expected from a company like Tudor. Evidently not...

I've a Pelagos and it is very tool like. it is well made and the engineering attention to detail is fantastic. The spring loaded adjustment on the bracelet is innovative. The bezel is 60 clicks but the click at 12 o'clock is slightly stiffer to help keep it in place.

I also have a Speedy Pro and IMHO the Pelagos is a better made watch (movement excepted). The bracelet on the Speedy Pro is underwhelming. I also have a Fortis Cosmo Chrono and it is better engineered than the Speedy. I love my Speedy and the history that goes along with it but pound for pound and ignoring the moon connection, the Pelagos IMHO is the better watch. You gotta love the snowflake hands.

I have tried on the Ranger but it just felt too big and a Rolex Explorer 1 would be a better buy in that style.

Rolex subs are nice, especially the SD 4000 but considering they cost circa £7k, that's a lot more than a Pelagos. The SD 4000 is better watch than the Pelagos as are the other subs due to their in-house movements. However they come at a price and with Tudor there is a good history, some nice looking watches and decent ETA movements.

Make sure you try before you buy because watches always look different to the photos you see. Some describe the Pelagos as plain and underwhelming. To me it is simply utilitarian and tool like. There are plenty of good watches out there and if you buy wisely, you will be happy.

It is an old(ish) watch, and was purchased abroad prior to Tudor returning to the UK.

I also had a "never meet your heros" moment with a Pelagos at the weekend.

I've always loved the look of the watch, and it's been my attainable "maybe one day" watch for a while. I love the lume, the Ti, the snowflake hands and the shallow dial. I was passing my local jeweller at the weekend, they had one in the window, so I asked to try it on, although I was honest and said I wouldn't be buying today.

It felt really nice, the bezel action was superb and the finish was excellent. But it just looked so "nothing" on the wrist, and I actually found the bracelet just a bit too sharp and grabby. It looked nowhere near as nice as my SMP and dare I say it even my black Steinhart.

I was absolutely gutted :-(

I'm the same with the Pelagos. Stunning in photos but didn't blow me away in person for some reason.

Tried a Heritage Black Bay with the red bezel the other week and did rather
like that. Felt decent quality and liked the bracelet and clasp design and feel. Not quite same standard as my SD but I would happily have one alongside it in my collection.

Not for me.... they look too plain. Also, I couldn't be bother to keep explaining about it if/when people ask "is that a rolex"

I've found that people either know what it is, or don't comment / ignore it.

Tried a few on - heritage Chrono, Blackshield, Pelagos - as per people's posts above I was just kind of underwhelmed.

I really thought I would want one but they just felt like something was missing.

Odd that I actually find a newly bought $200 Obris Morgan explorer II a better 'feeling' watch. Can't really put it in to words.

My collections does include Fortis, Sinn, Tag, Omega, Rado, Cuervo y Sobrinos, Max Bill and quite a few others...so I have plenty to compare against.

Really odd as I was so convinced that I would buy one.

Any 'on wrist' photos of that? Like the look of it on their website when someone (you?) posted it on the incoming thread.

Sure, I'll pop a couple on over lunch.

Maybe best if I post in 'incoming' as I don't want to hijack this Tudor based thread.

Just as an aside; I sent photos to a range of friends (some who are interested in watches, some not) with a 'guess how much?' comment. Lowest guess has been £500. Mate at weekend (he has Tag, Oris etc) tried it on and guessed £900.

I just do not understand how they have made something like this for what I paid; $180.

I've wanted a Heritage chrono since they were announced. I only actually got to try one on a couple of months ago an loved it. Felt like a really good size and well built. I am really funny about watches as I have very large wrists but this was just right.

Was told by the dealer that there were no discounts which meant I didnt buy it as I can by a used one from Chrono24 for around £1700 from Italy or Spain. I will buy one from there in the next few months unless I can find one over here for the same price.

I am firmly in the like camp. I went to get a Pelagos just over a week ago and came out with one and a Black Bay.

I went to the launch back in September at my local AD (also a Rolex AD) and got to try on various Rolex models (a sub or a milgauss being my grail originally) and was left feeling completely underwhelmed with them.
As someone previously mentioned never meet your heroes, found the same when I got to drive a 911 Turbo...

The Tudors seem well made and I feel compliment the other watches I own.

I was going to say post away, it might spark some other thoughts.

But then I realised reading the incoming thread would be a much simipler way of acheiving the same thing!

Funny watch the Pelagos, seen it in so many pictures looking fantastic, went to try one on as soon as Tudor launched in the UK, so excited, then............. So underwhelmed, gutted indeed, I had my debit card locked and loaded on the way to the shop, which quickly went back in the pocket, it just didn't do it in the flesh.
