U Boat won't restart

My watch winder has packed up, three weeks ago judging by the date on my stopped U Boat. But when I wind it, it won't restart. It's a Left Hook Auto, if that matters. I've wound it quite a lot, so something must be wrong. Any suggestions?

Being an auto you cannot overwind it as the clutch stops that happening.

What happens when you push the crown back in after winding?

What happens when you shake the watch with the crown inmost?

Maybe it needs das reboot.
