Hi,
I have been offered a mint example Tag Heuer Targa Florio.
All boxes and paperwork is present and I really am drawn to the classic albeit slightly fancy styling.
Is £1500 about the right money to pay if I don't want to lose my shirt come sale time!?
I am definitely leaning towards buying it so does anyone have any strong thoughts before I do?

I bought one of these new from an AD about 8 years ago. Lovely looking watch, and I couldn't resist as it was in a sale - half price, £995. Last time I checked, this was the going rate on eBay for a good secondhand example.

I sold a mint condition Fangio Limited edition for £1250 I think a couple of years ago which is what I'd paid.

£1500 is strong money, but they aren't common so it depends if it's exactly what you want. Buying with an 'eye to sell' and 'TAG' should not ever appear in the same sentence.

Some great advice thanks chaps.
I think the watch is lovely so I need to get my negotiating head on and get it for closer to £1000.
Are they rare because they are unpopular or is there another reason?

no...because it's a TAG and will probably crumble on your wrist the first time you wear it

Challenging design originally, but it has aged well.

The main problem as I could see it was the Targa Florio and/or Fangio link, there just wasn't one to Heuer (and certainly not TAG). A shonky bit of marketing.

I quite like the design but not sure about the hobnail bezel

I had one for a while several years ago.

Nice watch, but when I came to sell it on absolutely no one wanted it.

One dealer offered £400 (despite his offer over email being double that) and it took a long time to sell privately.

If you like it, go for it - but consider it a keeper.

Well, I took the plunge and bought it. Very nice watch in super condition and it even has the plastic in place on the case back.
I will offer up some photos in a day or two when I get a moment.
