Ladies Omega Seamaster service / restoration
Discussion
Hi Chaps
I have a ladies Omega Seamaster automatic which is in need of lots of TLC.
It seems to function OK but the crystal is quite scratched, the case has the odd 'chip' and the strap latch is missing.
Being fairly local to Southampton I could take it to the Omega service centre or searching here seems swiss time services are recommended.
Trouble is these could easily charge more than the watch is actually worth and there is no sentimental value attached.
Any thoughts and ideas as to who to go to?
Cheers

Out of that, the point most likely to cause problems outside the AD network is the missing clasp - is it actually missing or just not working? All the rest should be easy enough for any decent indie to sort. The clasp may or may not be depending if it's an available one.
But don't send it to Variomatic because it might end up in the same room as someone's copy and once they catch copyitis there's no hope. Or something like that, no doubt Yeti can explain it better with his vast technical experience.

I discovered this firm http://www.watchdoctors.co.uk from Pistonheads and so feel the need to pass on the recommendation.
They are efficient, do what they say they will do, keep you informed and honer their promises.
I had to return my 2000 Omega SMP twice, but they acted in good faith and eventually found the problem at no extra charge.
So it will definitely go back when it next needs a service.

Id prefer it if the fault were found on the watches first visit. It isn't a great recommendation.
Youre stuck with the bracelet, but Cousins may have a new clasp.
To be fair, GC, problems do inevitably happen occasionally - it's how they're dealt with that really matters. It's a little worrying that it wasn't put 100% right the first return, but if they were completely separate faults then even that can happen. As long as they don't make a habit of it Youre stuck with the bracelet, but Cousins may have a new clasp.
Hi Variomatic
Been let down by a local watch repairer (Not ecain63 I hasten to add) and am looking for some advice on what to do with this.
I want it serviced, polished etc but there's no real point if no one can get hold of a new clasp.
Happy to PM you and send further pics / description of what is required if you feel you can help?
Cheers
