40th B'day present, used watch for £600
Discussion
My family have very kindly offered to buy me a iwatch for my 40th birthday. It is not that I would not like one, but the fact it will be worthless and out of date in 5 years or less.
I would love a nice watch, more than happy with used for around £600. Any suggestions? I like classic designs, nothing too flashy.

Not sure whether this is too flashy but I think this is where my £600 would be spent. Have a look around the web and you may get it for less. A good brand, tough, waterproof etc.

If you like the Visodate, take a look at one of these. Its twice the watch that the Tissot is.
For something old, I mean REALLY old, how about:

or

or

or

All of these REALLY OLD watches have something in common you may like. I'll let you work out what.
All are within budget except for the second Omega, which has an asking price of £650.
Hmmn, I quite like that Zenith myself...

can i ask where you got it? link perhaps please
I bought it from ebay - got the seller down to £775 plus £10 postagehttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331517323580?_trksid=p20...
It has just arrived and I am chuffed to bits with it. No marks on the glass, couple of very minor markes on the blue outside dial and the bottom of the clasp has scratches on it where it has been used but that is OK, its a 15 year old watch. It fits like a glove. The strap is a bit grubby and needs a good clean, should I use one of those high frequency cleaners, think my brother has one.

You did well. You can't buy a watch new (and it's difficult to get one used) which is anywhere near as good as a Seamaster Professional.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331517323580?_trksid=p20...

If you hadn't already bought something, I was going to suggest a Longines Hydroconquest.
