My husband will be 50 next month and I'd like to buy him a 'proper' watch. He has not shown a huge amount of interest in watches and he is often the one with a cheap Casio while his peers have more grown up Swiss watches!

I have seen a Tudor day and date watch and I'd love to hear from anyone on here who knows something about watches. I understand that Tudor watches are made in the same factory as Rolex watches, even using the same craftsmen and the same machines. I cannot afford £5,000+ for a Rolex but I can afford this watch. What do you think? Please help me to decide before someone else buys it.

Tudor are very good watches. It sounds like that one is a Prince Date & Day.

Think of it as a Rolex case, with a movement bought in (but still a high quality, maintainable movement).

If you like it and it's in budget, I say go for it.

Pretty watch.

But there is a good chance of getting a *similar* Rolex for around that price.

This is my own watch and I think you should be able to get something similar for around your budget. I'll have a look around.

For instance:

If you could meet the seller of that in person, it's a similar model to mine but nicer condition than mine.

Or for a few £ more, from a real shop, http://www.parkhousethejeweller.com/pre-owned/pre-...

Not implying that Blowers is not a real shop biggrin

Brand new Tudor Pelagos £1941?
I didn't expect them to be that low!

Makes absolutely no sense to go to a dealer in this country for a Tudor. I expect they'll give a small discount, but not £800 worth.
