First off, i'm not 'into' watches by any stretch, but i fancied one to wear to work, so i went on Ebay at the weekend & placed a bid on a Hugo Boss watch, anyway, it turns out i won it.
Ebay is quoting that it should be here today, however, when i looked into it in a bit more detail, it started to strike me i may of paid half decent money for a fake watch.
I emailed the seller asking if it was genuine, comes with paperwork etc.
He said in an Ebay message that all of his watches are genuine & come with a '2 year manufacturers warranty'.
However i don't really trust anyone when it comes to Ebay & i'm skeptical.
I guess if worst comes to it i open a dispute, but is there a sure fire way to tell whether it's a fake or not?

I'm happy to upload photo's of it when it arrives if PH can help?

How much did you pay vs RRP/Sale Price? What's the sellers feedback like? I don't think there would be much of a market for fake Hugo Boss watches though.

I just bid £101 on the watch & won it, looking into it today, as i was too busy at the weekend, he seems to sell a hell of a lot of these (the same item). RRP suggests around £300, it was this that initially made me think it's fake + then checking his feedback seeing these watches are all he sells.

Here's the original link:

It's arrived, so just going to try & get some pics up.

I just Googled their postcode and this website came up https://www.swicowatchservicecentre.co.uk/t-faq.as... so I think you are safe. Also, the way that Hugo Boss is embossed on the inside of the leather looks exactly like it does on this inside of my Hugo Boss weekend bag so I think you're ok.

I know 0 about watches, but if it is a fake, it's a cracking fake at that!

I think the bar code on the label is a step too far for a fraudster of course it could be from a different Boss item. I think it's real.

It looks OK to me, but I haven't seen that particular model before.

Hugo Boss watches are easy to get at heavy discounts online, so don't let the price worry you.

All looks fine, the MGS address in Gulidford is the correct address for the UK distributor Movado Group.

Looks fine, and a very good deal!

Nobody would bother faking a £300 watch.

But they do. Watches even cheaper than that get faked regularly. Those Jihad favourite Casios are pretty common as fakes.

Think again!

I came across a fake watch forum when Googling a while back. There are people out there faking Sinns!! With great detail as well. Quite hard to actually tell the difference between the fake and real.

I don't know if this breaks any rules, so happy if a mod wants to delete - http://www.replicawatchess0.co.uk/hugo-boss-c-137

Funny thing is, they are more expensive than what the OP paid for a genuine one.

The snide Sinn U1 selling for about 300 dollars is pretty much 1:1 as they get from what I've read.

Everything is faked now if there's even a sniff of a market, it's a flick of a switch in a factory in China to swap a 'homage' run into an out-and-out snide run. There was a rash of Parnis Quartz Navitimers a while back, with a certain B on the crown.

OP, the Hugo Boss range is pumped out by the Movado group, similar the the Fossil group churning out Armani watched. They're all packaging and marketing, best bet is to do exactly what you've done and snag a bargain and not pay daft money.

The PH classifieds are full of counterfeit Ferrari's and other supercars for sale so I wouldn't have thought your link will be an issue!

The annoying thing about these (real) watches is that they use a movement that features in my "Toyota" chronograph. So you really are paying for the name.

biggrin

(I paid under £50 IIRC.)

When I travelled the world for a living, the markets of Beijing, Bangkok, Hong Kong et al, were groaning with the weight of fake goods.

You could get anything, and they were very good quality and hard to tell from the real Mccoy.

I still have some in use to this day, and sometimes everything but my socks are fake.

There was a side by side comparison with a genuine one, and it was very, very close. I think the only real difference was the bezel was slightly different and the markers on it. Otherwise, it looked pretty much spot on.

Madness. I can't imagine there's a big enough market for faked Sinns. Why would someone pay for a fake for a brand no one has really heard of. I get why someone would want a fake Rolex etc, but a Sinn!!

You would be surprised.

However my take on this threads is that given the evidence is doesn't matter.

good luck OP and wear it well.
