Very nice choice Gary I like that. I went through a similar thought process to you and actually bought 2 watches from Watchfinder that both had to be returned for a full refund (including postage) so that should tell you something about the product supplied if you know anything about the law in this area.

I went to an AD in the end and got a Rolex Explorer (similarly understated as your choice) for £3850 rather than £4300 - this also came with the advantage of having subsequently attended two VIP champagne receptions at their shop, with another in September to come :-)

Funny I do like some watches - some Tags (own several) - Oris (own three) etc but have always disliked Rolex.
It could be the whole branding issue - a bit like Breitling too I suppose. I find these more a fashion statement (or lack of)/ look at me proposition that anything else.
But have to admit that they appear to be exceptional time pieces.
So not knocking the product as much as the perceived image.

I always felt that Rolex's were a bit flashy (thinking of those tacky gold ones with lots of diamonds) and being bought by lottery winners. I had a look around and noticed that some were pretty modest looking and they're meant to be very well engineered. Truth is I liked it more than other watches I had seen.

I'm sure to anyone that notices i'll be 'that cock' because i'm wearing a Rolex. I certainly don't go out of my way to bring it to people's attention.

i used to be the first to rant about rolex owners being cocks. Now I own one and it's basically my favourite thing in the world!

I've been wearing S/S Rolexes since 1987 (Datejust, GMT II, Sub) Still waiting for someone to comment ether way. As a 'look at me' proposition they are probably bottom of the rung.

i've been wearing a deepsea since april and i've had at least 5 people comment. That's not why I bought it though.
