EDIT - Ergh sorry, "Buying an Omega Seamaster..."

After a trip out with the daughter today I stopped by Beaverbrooks to look at an Omega Seamaster but that has potentially become a very expensive diversion.

I don't have huge wrists (6.75") nor have I ever wanted a divers watch but this is really great and I'm getting one.

Anyway, Chrono24 has lead me to a reseller in The Netherlands called http://www.certerawatches.nl/en/ and I've a couple of questions, if I may.

1. What's the deal with buying from the EU in terms of import and taxes.
2. Has anyone used these guys before?
3. Can anyone with contacts on here match their price?

Cheers all, rather excited wink

I'd be wary of online retailers. A lot of them have grey market guarantees and won't be touched by the house.

They have an actual shop, not used them myself but haven't heard of any issues with them. Warranty is valid etc.

Thanks guys. I did just find http://www.swisswatchesdirect.co.uk/watch/212.30.4... but it looks like the shop in Blackburn may be a better idea and I like the bricks and mortar approach when spending so much money.

Cheers and good week.

Buying from main dealers is just like buying a car from them, usually overpriced. I just had a TAG serviced and battery changed and cost £215! Since found out an aftermarket independent can do it for half that. My point is i wouldn't hesitate to buy from abroad as even if TAG/OMEGA/ROLEX in the uk refuse to repair, with the money you've saved would most likely cover any eventualities with an independent.

I bought my Breitling from Iconic. Paid by card online and made arrangements to collect from the shop rather than post out. Couldn't fault them and would happily use again.

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I placed my order this morning with Iconic Watches so look forward to adding something to the wrist check thread in a couple of weeks.
