Although it was a few months ago now, my wife got hers from Mappin & Webb in Cambridge. We are often in Cambridge and it was in the window that day. They have had more in the window since. Could be worth giving them a call depending on whether Cambridge isn't too far from you?

If going the AD route then I would suggest going to ADs in smaller provincial towns and cities who even though they have a small allocation might not have sold it.
Other than that a weekend trip abroad might be your best bet - I picked one up in Italy over the weekend from a Rolex AD. Even got a discount too on top of the cheaper price in Euros.

Not adding anything to your post but are these in demand over supply? The last time I was in the Oracel which was ages to be fair they had one in the window.

I got the watch for £5300 once the transaction appeared back on my Credit card.
The credit card I used was a no foreign commission credit card (Visa) with very good (more or less interbank) exchange rates which helps for this sort of purchase.
The discount obtained was around 6.5% - I could perhaps have got a shade more.
