I also had a similar decision, although I kind of always knew what I wanted. Went to a Fraser Hart event last summer with the plan of buying a Deep Sea ... the new Sea-Dweller had just been launched and after trying it on, my mind was set and the idea was junked. Tried on the Sub & GMT and to me, nothing felt like the new SD ... so I bought one for my 40th.

Ive a non date (proper Submariner) 1996 model , its i think the last of the prettier sub's , as after this they started getting a wee bit too chunky and carried a fair amount of heft.
Ahh the cheap one, as it have the date missing

I have a white faced Daytona, I have to say I really miss the date function of the previous GMT. A small thing but I do miss it! Consider need and functionality above all else. I may sell the Daytona to get something with the date on.
That's exactly what I did, and in a completely different direction, sold a sleek almost dainty Daytona white face and bought a PO Ti to replace it, and beer money, the latter was most pleasant bobbybee said:
Sorry mate but it is an original
an original Submariner-Date and an obvious upgrade from the original Submariner as it has an added complication and newer better movement
No no , i didnt mean to offend! I am sure it's 100 percent genuine , however the look of the watch to me is far more important than the newer movement.an original Submariner-Date and an obvious upgrade from the original Submariner as it has an added complication and newer better movement
Let's be honest the movement's in all these watches are dam fine , even though the movement in mine's is the same as found in the lesser priced Explorer.
But yes the date submariner is the addition , as the original sub has no date.
It's a 6241 – vintage Paul Newman Daytona.......yours for only £65K.
