The Oris looks good and the brand is well known to many of us.

With regards to market position: people should consider that Oris watches are a good deal dearer than Longines and they (Oris) have played the price card FAR less than the Swatch group have over the last five years... No one questions Oris' value for money, so I think that their true market position needs to be reconsidered.
I agree. Oris quality is perhaps higher than its pricing would indicate, because Oris hasn't played the price increase game to the extent of other Swiss brands. For example, I've had similarly priced Oris and Longines watches; the Oris was slightly better quality in fit and finish.

Also, Oris has a very good UK service centre at Andrew Charles. The price of servicing an automatic movement is £100, which is half what the Swatch Group service centre charges to 'service' a Quartz. Andrew Charles also does a better job than the Swatch Group's service centre.
