Mine's a mk2, picked it up when I was in Japan. Love it.

Horrible "look at me" things, I think, only slightly better than a G-Shock in gawdy colours...

I'm not sure you can call any Seiko watch a 'look at me' watch. For me they're interesting to look at and something different to the norm. Big and bright - yes of course, they're divers watches.M

I'm not saying it's a watch where the owner says "look at me and my great watch", but that it's a watch that screams for attention in a way say a 007 or MM300 doesn't.
It's definitely a Marmite watch style and whilst I'm partial to the odd Twiglet, I wouldn't wear a Monster.

Really? Seiko make lots of divers watches, as do most other watch makers, but very few are as ostentatious as the Monster.

thanks - what lug size is the first generation Seiko Monster - the eBay advert offers 20mm or 22mm?
Pretty sure I ordered a 22mm.Edited by Adam B on Tuesday 4th August 11:26
Still love my Gen1 black monster. I did buy the Super Engineer and Super Engineer II bracelets for it, I'm currently wearing if on a NATO.
I seem to think there is a big shortage of monsters for sale. Creation Watches always had a range of options at great prices, but they haven't had them in for a while.
Where is that blue one listed?

I believe it's an imminent release along with a similar dialled sumo.I seem to think there is a big shortage of monsters for sale. Creation Watches always had a range of options at great prices, but they haven't had them in for a while.

Was cross posted in a FB group and info came from WUS.
Monsters do feel great. Several Seiko 5s (including a baby monster) have come and gone from my collection but they didn't quite feel as substantial as the monster. It's got a real weight to it.
I notice they have gone back to the Gen1 style hour markers. I quite fancied the shark tooth version. I like the pearl burst effect on the blue dial though.
