I put it closer to 50 years, to be honest.

De Ville was the entry range in the late 50s. They were very big in the 60s and were very popular until years later. Unfortunately these days there are loads around and scrap value plus a little bit is all they are worth. That said, I quite like them and given a couple of decades they may become more collectable than they are now. Keep it original and unpolished, just make sure its serviced.

1967 was the year that De Ville models were introduced and Id guess that this is closer to launch than it is to 1980!

My fiance found an Omega watch which her grandmother had bought for her grandfather for their 25th wedding anniversary, probably very similar to the one in the OP.

Cheers all. I've found the Omega database where you have to input the serial number to date it. However it turns out to be a "front loader movement" ie no backplate and I was a bit wary of pulling the split crown wheel out smash

But fortunately i've also found this manual that describes how to do it.....

Now all I have to do is sneak it off Wifeys wrist to do it laugh
