Something from Sinn? Solid, reliable, in budget?

https://www.sinn.de/en/Sinn-Spezialuhren.htm

I've got a 203 Arktis, no longer available, but there are other 203 and 103 designs and they'd be my choice, but there are a wide selection of designs in their range, to appeal to most tastes.

It boils down to what features you like, the style, leather/bracelet, etc.

Running a quick search...

http://www.goldsmiths.co.uk/c/Watches/filter/Page_... (other retailers are available!)

I quite like Raymond Weil Freelancer, they can be had in leather or bracelet. Not everyones cup of tea but take a look and see what styles suit.

I'm loving this Longines master collection on croc leather. More of a dress watch than an everyday one though.

Me too , and I would also make it a quartz ( I did ) ....super accurate and the thinner body more comfy to wear daily. It would also leave cash to pay the thick end of a weekend away.....result....good luck with choice.

Hi. I'm in the same boat. Looking to replace a Seamaster and debating between 2nd hand from watchfinder.co.uk, or new and have seen two new for £2100-2150 via WatchesRoyale or Secondtimearound in London ? Does anyone have any experience of either ?

Also - do Omega sell a battery version in 2015 ? I can't see anything new less than the £2770 retail for the automatic version suggesting they don't sell a battery / Quartz version ??

Thanks

I don't believe they sell anything quartz for men anymore.

Yes I think your right no more new mens quartz avail . I bought mine pre-owned a year ago , it's a 2009 watch ,from Austin Kay so not cheap but virtually looked new when it arrived and has been great for daily wear. Discrete but classy enough , it's not a G shock but never give it a though no matter my activity...no problems yet and it's always accurate. Its a keeper.

Bell & Ross BR03, I know they are a bit marmite, but they are so much fun and you can get lots and lots and lots of super funky straps smile

Thanks for the sugestions everyone .. some good potentials there.

Keep them coming please....

Looking around at prices I'm actually now tempted to purchase a pre-owned watch. Its seems if I go pre-owned and even if it is a few years old that I can get watch that may previously be iutside my budget.

Anyone have recommnedations on who or where I should be looking at for pre-owned. I'm by no means a watch epert so the thing that worries me is authenticity of watch etc.

SO if anyone knows any realible dealers please let me know.

Hackett Watches
Blowers Jewellers
Watchfinder

Those are the usual suspects around here and positive experiences are typical.

For a daily I'd suggest something on a metal bracelet, rather than a leather strap.

What sort of style do you like - diver etc?
Do you want a clean dial, or extra features such as sub dials?

Have a good think about what you want with regard to style of watch, bracelet/strap, colour of face etc, etc. and then spend sometime looking at the usual websites (watchfinder, chrono24 etc.) and make a short list and then have a chat with Dom Hackett (details above) about your choice and he can advise of other options you may want to look at - he is a true gent thumbup

Your idea of looking at a pre-owned watch is sound and you will get better value that way in my opinion.

Enjoy the search biggrin

Buying online from chrono24, WF, DH etc is great, if you know exactly what you want. IMHO spending a day out in town trying some bits and bobs on would give some ideas where to look... Most decent shops will show you loads of things even knowing you are not buying, just deciding.

Someone recomended a Tudor Black Bay earlier, I was going to pick one up on UK launch day, online, fortunately I was in London on the day in question and nipped into WoS with the intention of going home with the Blue version, I even took ID and proof of address to buy on 0%. In the flesh it just did not work for me, nothing tangible, nothing wrong with the watch, it just did not press my buy me button...

Also iconic watches are grey dealers so sell brand new watches at great prices smile

This echos my position at present, currently in the market for a Seamaster 300m as it's the watch I always wanted and i'm now in a position almost to buy one, i've got in contact with Dom and am waiting to hear back from him. Heard nothing but good things so looking forward to hopefully do something wit him!

I'm about to get a Seiko Marinemaster 300 for a little over half of that budget (they go for about 1800 USD).

A hell of a lot of watch for the money due to the weak Yen. Tough as boots, Grand Seiko movement and nicely finished.

Perfect on a tan NATO for Autumn wearing.

I like the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra - it's quite understated and slim which I think is quite stunning. Admittedly I have the wrists of a girl though.
