Which everyday watch...budget £2k...ish
Discussion
My suggestion would be a Breitling B1. Well under your budget and to my mind one of the best quartz watches ever made. Dual alarm, timezone, additional LCD display. I've had one of these as my daily watch for 15 years and with a polish every four years when I get it serviced it still looks almost new. Secondhand only as they don't make them any more.

I'm about to get a Seiko Marinemaster 300 for a little over half of that budget (they go for about 1800 USD).
A hell of a lot of watch for the money due to the weak Yen. Tough as boots, Grand Seiko movement and nicely finished.
Perfect on a tan NATO for Autumn wearing.

some really good suggestions here.
Hve decided 100% will go pre-owned- seems to make a lot of financial sense.
Will first go and physically try some on my wrists as i have a very small wrist so a large watch will look silly on me.
O/h has also decided she wants another daily watch so now have to find her something as well - at least she is coming around to the preowned idea.

I know you're planning on used now, but if I was you I'd go for one of the following:
- Tudor Pelagos (blue version with the in-house movement)
- Tudor North Face
- Nomos Orion 38
If it must be secondhand, I'd look for an Elite powered Zenith, such as the Captain three-hander or the World Time or Reserve de Marche models, or a vintage Omega pie-pan.

The latest Pelagos has to be the winner.
It's stylish yet a recognized 'tool' watch. Also, being titanium it's a lot lighter than equivalent watches. It's not bulky anyhow, unlike some of the equivalent Omegas.
Yes, it's not as busy as a Seamaster but that's the beauty of it.
Easily the most versatile and best value for money watch in my collection.

Or maybe not It's a contender, but for some it's a bit bland and not everyone likes the lack of heft Titanium delivers.
Horses for courses...

I've had it for 8 months and it has grown on me. When I first was given it I too thought it was a bit 'bland', especially when put against my other watches. As I said, after some time that aspect has almost made it endearing to me.
marcosgt is completely correct, it is horses for courses, all I would say is, don't write off a watch that isn't as flashy as the others....in time it might prove the best buy (and potentially hold its value better ).
So hard to answer these sort of questions without at least some idea of what the OP wants features and style wise - e.g. date or not, chrono or not, simple or complicated, strap or bracelet, etc..
Without that everyone simply suggests their favourite or what they happen to be selling ...
