Repair/service of Tissot
Discussion
I have a Tissot PRS200 that's around 9 years old. It required a new battery, so I replaced it. However, it still refused to work. It also requires a repair of the ratchet on the bezel. I took it to a national chain repairers who quoted me over £300 - i.e. I may as well buy a new one for the same price. Is this a reasonable price for the work required?
Most (if not all) watchmakers will be reluctant to fit owner-supplied movements from unknown sources because the risk of bounce-backs is just too high.
That's especially true with the G10.211 units in these, where there's no option to repair a fault because it's a sealed unit. Which means, if the one you supply turns out to be faulty, the watchmaker is into either providing a replacement (from known sources) himself or potentially having a row over something that's not his fault.
Sadly, since ETA started to restrict supplies the cost on these movements has almost doubled in the past year or so but you should still be able to get one supplied [i]and[i] fitted over here for around £100. the bezel ratchet might be a problem though depending on the case number ("prs 200" is nowhere near specific enough to identify case parts - it's be like looking for a replacement wing for "a Ford Escort"!)

No problem, on re-reading I thought you might have meant that.
Can't help with suggestions in the Midlands I'm afraid - contrary to some rumours us indies aren't a close-knit society with secret handshakes etc. If we were then the makers would be finding it much harder to stop us getting parts right now! And forum rules prevent me from offering one of the ones that are in my parts draw
