Oris BC3 - Genuine or fake
Discussion
Just a bit of help needed from anyone who knows Oris watches. I just recently bought the watch below for a cheaper price than most that are currently for sale. As the watch has never been worn I just wanted to check it wasn't a copy.

Difficult one. I'd shove it on Friends of Oris.
I've got a BC3 and it's a black face one with a red rotor, but I bought it in 2010. The pre-red rotor ones are from early 2000 apparently. The rear of my watch also has different lugs to engage a tool to remove it.
I've never seen a white one - there's a thread discussing one here though http://www.friendsoforis.com/forum/index.php?/topi...

Thanks for the tip. I will have a look over there. I've got a BC3 and it's a black face one with a red rotor, but I bought it in 2010. The pre-red rotor ones are from early 2000 apparently. The rear of my watch also has different lugs to engage a tool to remove it.

Do you think Oris is a common brand for fakes? I'd expect lots of fakes for Rolex and Omega, but Oris?
I would respectfully suggest that you don't know nearly as much as you think that you do. Neither about counterfeit watches, nor about Oris.Don't confuse your opinion with fact.
A google image search will help, this link has lots of zoomable pictures..

I'm no expert, and your movement pic is a bit blurred, but it looks pretty genuine to me.

First hit on a google search for Oris BC3 replica:

As you can see the copies aren't just restricted to the big brands....

That was the site that I looked at hence the question. I was surprised of the price as I didn't pay a great amount more for the one that I bought. http://www.watchesen.com/oris-bc3.html

Yeah, I thought I just asked a question. But apparently I was expressing an opinion.
Incidentally, I know diddly squat about fake watches. Though I've owned an Oris (an excellent watch, IMO).
there's little people won't fake- there was a run of fake circuit breakers (for consumer units) some time ago - except whereas the genuine item contains electromagnetic and bimetallic components to operate the overcurrent trip these were in fact "empty case" switches - very much potentially lethal. Yet thats a £2-3 component!Incidentally, I know diddly squat about fake watches. Though I've owned an Oris (an excellent watch, IMO).
