I have decided to sell my Submariner LV and am surprised to see how much ebay fees are for sales of this value. Have people had much luck selling watches through pistonheads? Would it be better to advertise on a specialist forum and if so are there any that allow new members to post items for sale?

Also any advice on where the price point is for a private sale? Looking at Blowers an equivalent watch is £5,750 so would £5k be a realistic price (with full papers, receipt and box)?

I sold a Cartier on Chrono24 last year in two days for £500 more than the best dealer offer. I suggested Paypal so he could have confidence and protection in the transaction, Sent the watch by Recorded delivery. No problem.

I sold mine on commission through a local jeweller. A small shop which only sells low-ish value new stuff, but has a few nice used watches in the window.

Thanks Both

I will have a look at Chrono 24

I never thought to approach a local retailer who may take it on a sale or return basis. I have someone in mind so will see if that is an option.

Depending on condition £5k is in the ball park, although toppy if it's likely to need a service any time soon.

PH is certainly worth a try, but I'd give chronotrader a go

Most specialist watch forums require that you contribute for a while before selling.

Thanks. Will have a look there too. Noted on the price - maybe I should pitch it starting with a 4 in that case.

I'm looking for a LV. Going by your profile Eleander I may well be fairly local. Let me know when you decide on a price. Thanks ( I've emailed you, but it could be in your junk folder ).

That looks a decent site so will stick an ad up on it (money back guarantee to sell so no reason not to) - thanks

It was indeed in my spam folder. I emailed you back which hopefully you have received.
