My girlfriend / fiancée by Xmas likes Michael Kors watches, she has just broken hers and this has opened up the perfect christmas present.

Now in my eyes the Michael Kors watches are cheep petrol station watches rolled in glitter.

So I'm looking for:

£200 ish.
A bit glittery, she is a bit of a magpie.
Quartz or automatic.
Sliver in colour.
Metal bracelet.
New or very good condition.

Exactly the same conundrum as I faced a short while ago.

The Mrs really likes Kors watches - I will never understand why. But then, I understand very little of her thought or decision making process.

What I have learned is just to buy her what she wants regardless of my opinions.

P.S - good luck with the proposal

What about Bulova? Less of a fashion brand but still do a load of blingy ladies watches.

How about this with a high-hz quartz movement?

For watches of the Kors ilk, have a look at the Sekonda "Seksy" rolleyes range.

I don't get MK either (is that guy who always used to say how good they were still on here?). For me, MK is for when Lizzie Duke is just too good....

If she likes it, buy it, otherwise she'll never wear it...

I'm partial to a bit of Sekonda action now and then, but I would sooner buy products branded with Jamie Oliver's face than buy a watch called a 'Seksy'...

Buy another, you don't have to like it.

On balance, I think I'd rather go with "I bought Seksy and I know that you know it's crap" rather than "I bought Kors because I think people will think it's expensive and be impressed" biggrin

Had this discussion with Mrs. MikeVeal a little while ago. Apparently Kors is recognised by wimmen folk as a good brand in the fashion industry. Can't comment on what ever else they do, but the watches are shiny tat.

I had this issue last year. The other half isn't into watches and is happy with a "designer label" quartz fashion watch. She did point out a Cartier that she liked but I quickly distracted her with a handbag shop and made my escape.

In the end she really loved a Vivienne Westwood orb watch. I think it was just over the £200 mark but not by much. It's smaller and less in your face than some of the MK watches we saw.

Doesn't Fossil make Michael Kors watches?

My missus watched her sister in law pay £250 for a rose gold MK watch in the local jewelers and found a near on identical Fossil version on Amazon for £60.

Think some people don't do the research on who actually makes these items and then sticks their name on it and adds 3x the price tag.

Not sure which is worse, but personally (since the brand means nothing to me), I could live with Michael Kors on a dial more than "Seksy" if I liked the watch.

I wouldn't expect anything (except a Rolex, of course) to impress people wink

Vintage Omegas are very inexpensive at the moment. Way cooler than an MK.

Buy here a new MK, it has nothing to do with watches whatsoever, it's the brand and MK is a ladies favourite at the moment.

That's the correct answer. It matters not that you can get as good or better watch for less.

Rock up with a bottle of M and S perfume when she wants Gucci at Christmas and see how it goes.

The principle is the same.

^^What they said^^.
Its not your present, its her present. Get her what she wants as opposed to anything of decent quality or taste. If you try to inject the slightest ounce of sensibility into the equation you will fail.

Just comply with the request and do not try to understand the ununderstandable . We're talking about the 50% of the population that think comfort is not a consideration when buying shoes - "We can't walk anywhere, I'm wearing my xyz shoes.". Why? Why would anyone deliberately buy a shoe in which they can not walk? If the shoe was mistakenly bought and you later decided it was uncomfortable why would you keep it? The unfathomable can not be fathomed, don't waste your time trying.

Mrs has one, its laughable for what it cost. They have the decimal point in the wrong place IMO, crap. Also she's about 2 years late to the party, what else is on her list? Ugg boots? wink
