Tudor Black Bay Black.. Where to buy?
Discussion
I'm a bit late to the party I guess but I really fancy getting a Tudor heritage Black Bay Black.. I originally had my heart set on a no date sub but at more than twice the price I can't justify the difference.
The Black Bay in black looks to be in short supply, however. Where should I be looking? I travel a fair bit with work which may help find a tax free bargain..Off to Barcelona tomorrow, Munich in a few weeks and trips to Switzerland and Florida in the next couple of months.. What would you guys suggest and will I always wish I'd held out for a "Full Fat Rolex" ?

I've been looking too. You'll find that UK retailers have just got supplies of Black Bay Black on steel bracelet and leather straps. You just need to ring round to your AD and check.
If they have, they've already sold them. I tried 3 Tudor AD's in London yesterday trying to find a Black Black Bay without any success and eventually found one in Watches of Switzerland in Regent St., who had recently got some in, so I've managed to get one. There are rumours circulating on one of the Rolex forum's that the Black bezel version may be discontinued after this Baselworld next month. Several posters have said that UK AD's have said this, and WoS said yesterday, that when the Black version was announced, they were told that while it was going to be limited in numbers made, it was only going to be made for a limited timescale, but they didn't say how long. So, there maybe some truth in the rumours....we'll have to wait and see.
Had a look at one of these on the weekend, love the design, and the vintage look. Does anyone know where I can find a list of the Tudor ADs in Europe / UAE?
I have a few business trips coming up and hoped I could save a bit shopping overseas. The tudor website just defaults to the UK so it is impossible to see ADs in any other region.

The speculation over on TZ-UK is that the "discontinuation" that the AD's are spouting is simply that after Basel they will come with an inhouse movement. So current stocks are being run down. So technically a new model, but if you've seen teh pictures of the bronze one to be launched at Basel it looks the same.

But the bronze one is 42mm, so although it may look the same, if the new in-house movement goes with an enlarged case size, whilst having similar appearance, they will be very different watches.I'm glad I got my Black Black Bay last month, as I'm not interested in a 42mm case size watch, nor the new style 3,6,9 hour marks.

Thanks for the heads up on the new bronze version. Personally still prefer the black version. Do you reckon all versions of the watch will now be 42mm with the numbers on the face?
I guess will have to wait and see what Basel brings and then potentially rush to buy one of the last Black editions.

Very possibly....unlikely they will do two distinctly different versions of the same model, but no one knows at the moment.SlowlnFastOut said:

Yup.I wasn't going to wait, that's why I got mine last month, and it wasn't easy to find one then. I had actually intended to buy one at xmas/new year time, but my Mum passed away the week before xmas and I naturally had other priorities to attend to.
Interesting in that confirms that they are keeping the 41mm case size with the new in-house movement as well as the new 43mm case size.
I like it, although, I personally would not buy a PVD watch.
I actually still prefer the black, Black Bay I've just bought with the chocolate dial and rose gold trim, so I'm glad I bought it when I did.

So, on the standard Black Bay Black changes seem to be:-
new riveted bracelet, obviously the new movement and the rose appears to have been replaced by the shield.
As someone new to watches, is there any merit in buying one of the current versions, instead of holding out for this new one?
Not sure if I like the riveted bracelet and will the fact that the Black version having only been released at the end of last year, mean the original version without the in house movement is rarer and therefore holds its value better? Or is that wishful thinking?
