Discussion
This watch belonged to my father. It was presented to him after 21 years service at Woolworths. It's been sat in my drawer ever since he died over 20 years ago. I've been hesitant to wear it in case I lost or damaged it, however I'd like to replace the strap and wear it on special occasions.
Dad would have received this in the mid 70's and it's engraved on the back. I remember lots of his colleagues had the same watch too.
The strap has seen better days and doesn't seem to fit between the lugs very well, so I'd like to get a genuine strap for it.
Any help much appreciated.

Your best bet would be to take it to an Omega watch specialist. If you need to find one, sign up to TMZ-UK. Very helpful people there. I had my Tag Heuer 2000 series restored to new condition after it was destroyed by a moron jeweller who polished all the texturing out of the steel by an expert. He also cleaned the inside, added new seals and basically restored it to brand new condition for a very reasonable price.
I suggest that's your best bet. Also if it's been stuck in a drawer for 20 years, it could probably do with a service anyway.

What exactly needs identifying? It's an Omega Geneve but you knew that already. Manual wind, no doubt. Gold plated. You meant, how much does it cost?
I assumed Geneve was where it was made/Omegas home town?Looking at your photos it doesn't look like it needs much except the strap. Does it run? If so, wear it and enjoy the memories of your father.
On the strap front, I wouldn't personally waste money on an original strap (it's 40-50 years old, so a new Omega strap won't be that 'original' anymore). Get something like a nice Hirsch or any quality, non-OEM, leather strap to your taste.
I've got a very similar Omega on a lizard strap.
And a couple of other of similarly styled watches on other aftermarket straps.
All these straps can from http://www.ukwatchstrap.co.uk/ , but other suppliers are available.
Just measure the gap between the lugs to get the right size, but I'll bet it's 18mm

I don't think it's plated.. Solid gold wouldn't be horribly expense or probably that unusual for such a presentation item (although I can't pretend to be an expert on the Omega Geneves from that era).

I'd agree with not putting an Omega strap on it, does it run?
It still runs and keeps good time. The strap has a nice gold Omega buckle on it, so if I change it, I'd like to keep that too.Once I've put a new strap on it, I'll keep it as my "smart" watch.
Thanks to all for the advice.
Simon.

I've got a Speedmaster on a Di-Modell Rallye strap, but with an OEM Omega buckle.

If it is rose gold you may wish to get it checked out for insurance valuation purposes.
Austin Kaye deal heavily in vintage Omega and charge absolute top money but worth noting the prices of a couple of their gold ones on this link

I have a similar Omega (Seamaster 30), lovely watch to wear on more dressy occasions.
Cheers

I assumed Geneve was where it was made/Omegas home town?Take the back off, read the model number on the inside rear, and look it up on Omegas classic site. You may need to add an extra zero (eg 135.0011 from 135.011) but I cannot tell uou why...
