I searched this forum the other day looking for help on getting a movement replaced in my Rotary Aquaspeed. Noting some advice from PHer Variomatic I checked his profile and found that he has a shop.

I contacted him for a ballpark figure to replace the movement and his estimated price was very competitive.

Suffice to say, I sent my watch to him last Wednesday by special delivery and he contacted me with a firm quote for the work the next day, which I was happy to accept.

The watch arrived back to me this morning (the following Tuesday) with a new movement, new battery and pressure tested.

Excellant service, especially considering that he had to order in the movement as he was out of stock of the one needed.

Just wanted to say a big "Thank You" to him and recommend him to anyone who might need his services in the future.

You're more than welcome, and apologies for making you wait the extra couple of days by messing up my stock levels biggrin

Apologies for highjacking your thread sgrimshaw, but I would also like to thank variomatic for the excellent service he provided recently on my Tag Carrera.

I'd also like to give a big thumbs up to Joe.

Sent him an old Seiko Kinetic on Tuesday afternoon.

It's back with me now, new crystal and capacitor, looking great and working as new.

I have ten watches (and 15+ stop watches including 5x 12hrs) that I need to have serviced/repaired by Joe, but keep spending the money on more watches... hehe

Joe: can you source a replacement second hand for this for me? Far from clear, its an '88 Oysterdate Precision.

Trev & Convert, more than happy to have helped. It's always nice when things can be turned round by return like that kinetic!

GC, probably can't get an original for that (at least, not without a lot of time searching!) but should be able to do a made-to-pattern generic without a problem. At the end of the day, it's a stick with a hole in it - doesn't even have luminous compound on that one to complicate things. If the shape, size and finish are the same I defy anyone (including Rolex) to know the difference without destructive metallurgical testing wink

Brilliant, thank you. Its only the second hand that shows any patina. I will add it to the list (Oris BC3 broken, Tissot PR100 broken. TAG Heuer 2000 broken [all ETAs], Seiko SKX009 stem issue, Poljot 3133 service & bent stem, Lanco jump hour service, Omega MegaQuartz service, Omega Dynamic service, Omega Chronostop service, Poljot 3133 service and 2x franken builds).

My latest piece is a new Longines so it should keep me going for a while...
