Croft Watches - New brand
Discussion
I posted this on the frivolous purchases thread but thought a few of you on here might be interested. A friend of mine has just launched this watch brand, he's been working on the design and marketing side for over a year now and they just launched on Kickstarter. Already over 50%! Looking forward to getting mine.

Personally speaking I would never spend that little on a watch of that sort of style i.e. the dressier end of the market. That's not to say it's not a good design - it's quite attractive actually and credit to them for starting the enterprise. It's just that if I wear a watch with a suit it will be a 'nice' mid market brand (Longines, for example) or my PAM. I have no fear of wearing a much cheaper watch but that's along the lines of my Seiko or my G-Shock, which are of a completely different style, and neither of which can be bettered within their price range, as far as I'm concerned.
However, young lad who's not interested in 'brands' but wants a 'smart' watch may well be making a beeline for these guys. I hope they do well.

They don't seem to have any fake history linked to the military, that's what people really want.
Your mate needs to create some links to unrelated military regiments and RAF squadrons and people that make ejector seats etc.
Unfortunately, I agree the logo is a bit transformers and it has a generic swatch look about it also. I certainly wouldn't buy one either.

Nice looking except for the logo which I am afraid to say it utterly dreadful. Gash. Really. Without it it really would look good. Less is more. Added to which they can expect a call from Armani's legal department about infringing their trademark in that particular class and "passing off".
And what is this fresh hell?
Difficult market - young men in pointy shoes and tight trousers wanting a "statement" watch at this price point will go for BOSS or CK, or Diesel or (god no please) Armani or some other such overpriced tat. They want to impress the girls innit......... and the girls love a label.
Nice design though, logo aside, especially in steel with the brown strap.

The case of a CROFT Watch doesn’t just stop there, we have also specially engraved each watch with LDN-MEL to represent London and Melbourne - the joint birthplace of CROFT Watches.

Well I originally put it on the frivolous thread having bought one myself. My friend then told me through the Kickstarter analytics that at least 5 people had bought it coming from the frivolous purchases link so I thought it popular enough that it might be better off in the watch sub forum.
Although judging by the feedback above that obviously wasn't the case!

Logo is fresh from the house of The Winged Horse of Chav Tat - and totally incompatible with the classic font of CROFT which tries to display a sense of heritage.
The font of the Day and Date seem to differ and very generic compared to the font of CROFT
Nothing on the front face on where it is made. I'm guessing China/ Taiwan, or any quality aspects.
The Gimp style box is rather odd in keeping with the slim gentlemen's watch.
To be honest... I don't know what it is supposed to be - and who the target market is.
It might make your friend a bit of beer money, but even although it is a cheap watch, I can't see many folks taking a punt on it.
It is a bit of a Frankenwatch, but maybe it is me getting on in years - and the young gentleman of today will lap it up.
