I've been looking at a secondhand stainless Rolex Datejust for a family member this afternoon, which is being sold by a local jeweller. Immaculate looking watch of 2011 vintage, which I think would make it a 116234.

The dealer wants £4k. However I have it in mind that a brand new one can be had for about £4500 with a bit of haggling. Is that right or are my numbers out of date?

Thanks for any pointers.

Fluted or plain bezel? Fluted is white gold bezel, plain is SS. You may have seen the plain bezel price which is about £1k cheaper or thereabouts.

I want the fluted. Best price seems to be about £4800, which is too much. I am sure a SH one will come up at sensible money.

I've been in touch with him. He has a black dialled stainless bezel with oyster bracelet. It's nice but not what I want.
