My wife is having a pretty stty time at the moment and I have promised myself I'd buy her a decent watch for years but have never got around to it.
So I am going to bite the bullet and go for it.... I have about £1.5k to spend which is about ten times the cost of anything she has had before.

She really likes st/st brackets and a simple, round bezel with a pale (white?) face.
After some craft research, she seems to like the Omega Aqua Terra and the Tag Heuer Aqua Racer, both from Watchfinder.

Are these obvious choices?
Is there anything else I should consider?
Is there anywhere else I should be looking?

Thanks in advance.

I bought my wife one of these: http://www.goldsmiths.co.uk/Longines-Flagship-Ladi... which is a nice looking, elegant watch; in my opinion anyway. They retail at £1,070 so that gives you a few hundred quid to treat her to a nice meal / overnight stay somewhere.

Santos Ronde:

Here's a Santos Ronde Octogon . Yeah it's an oxymoron. This one is bimetal, but they did an all steel as well.

Omega Constellation. This one is listed as a ladies watch, but at 36mm it's big. Smaller models are available.

I dont think you can do better than a pre-owned date just which should be just about do-able with your budget.

Hope she enjoys whatever you decide on.

Similar question:

More or less settled on a Rolex DateJust for SWMBO's big birthday this year.

I am torn between an older gold bracelet model (yes, but blingy I know....) or a more recent bi-metal model. Apart from the look of the thing - any concerns about buying an 'older' Rolex?

Any advice welcomed - thanks

It's often said that many women don't appreciate a second hand watch as a gift (Many don't like second hand jewellery even), so if you do go down that route, make sure she'll appreciate it.

Also, of course, a used Rolex won't be cheap to maintain long term...

But, if you think she'd like it, it's an option. Personally, I'd go with that Longines.

The thought did cross my mind actually, however if you buy well (good condition) it may be best to withhold the fact that it is pre-owned. Only a little white lie!!

My missus has a couple if Omegas. She is most partial to her little (small quartz) seamaster with blue face and s/steel strap. Sound investment too.

Really? I thought women's watches were virtually worthless used.

Follow the link in my post above to Chrono24. Suggest you look at several on there and search Pistonheads for "Chrono24" to get the low down on what they are and how they operate BEFORE you take the plunge.
