Tudor Black Bay - Advice
Discussion
Hello,
I need some opinions, I'm set on the red variant on the metal bracelet and I've tried it on and good to buy one.
However.
Tudor have recently discontinued the ETA based watch to release on using the movement from the North Pole line.
The only visual difference is the rose is replaced by the tudor shield. A change which doesn't bother me.
What I wanted to ask, is whether I should get the ETA watch in the hope it might become somewhat sought after, or go with the new movement and have a 'better' watch.
What do you think?

The text on the dial and the bracelet are different too I think? Plus it's slightly thicker.

I had a long look at the new face and bought a black bezel version last week, before I can't get a new one.
Don't care at all that the movement is not in-house, nor about the longer power reserve (all my automatics have about 40hr reserves). I simply dislike the new bracelet and new face; I also don't want a thicker watch. I didn't buy it because it'll be rarer, I bought it because I prefer the way it looks.

I think that's what will sway me.
The rose and curved text are what makes it more interesting.
The irony being of course that it's still a homage watch
I'd call it more a retro watch, as the outgoing Black Bay design pays homage to the original Tudor Sub design from '53(?) which again is what appealed to me, and why I went and bought one as soon as the new one was revealed. Don't like the new at all.The rose and curved text are what makes it more interesting.

when you can buy the old one for £1400 these days then it's an ok buy, buying one at list not so good.
Please point me in the direction of the £1400 BB!Went into a jewellers yesterday to try on a Tudor Black Bay and a Pelagos.
Interesting, because I wanted to like the Black Bay, but it just didn't look right - almost a bit square. And this was the older 'rose dial' version, not the newer, thicker ones.
Pelagos, which I've tried before, was still nice, but the blue is too blue, and the black could do with being a proper inky black.
Spoke to them about the Black Bay Bronze, and apparently they're selling like hot cakes, but I'd like to try one for size before I committed to one by placing a deposit.

Whereabouts are you, in Nottingham theyre not taking deposits yet on the bronze but they do have a list. I put myself on the list two weeks ago and am third inline.
They do know me as have bought a lot of watches from them but believe the no deposit is open to all as they were basically stating that if they took a deposit it would be refundable and they wont struggle to sell to another so didnt see the point in taking deposits.
They did tell me they would not be offering any discount though.

If anyone is interesting in the bronze Black Bay, Hodinkee has just posted a long term wear report showing how the watch ages.
