Choosing a TAG

a bit like a new TAG ......but if OP really needs one then there is outlet village TAG shop near me on the Wirral that flogs them off with 50% discount ...at least then you are only paying double what they are worth and not 4X
With inside knowledge like that it makes you wonder how many prestige companies are ripping us off. Seems like greed has overtaken morals nowadays!!

So they're rubbish because they're too expensive but they are also rubbish because you can get a good discount?!?
no they are rubbish because they have cheap nasty little $30-$50 movements in and they need repairing on a regular basis .........The platinum Zenith I owned was a beautiful watch which i regret selling and it demonstrates wonderfully the advantage of buying pre-owned ........14k new purchased for a little more than 3k
each to their own
Why would you case a watch in platinum? It's too soft to be practical. It would need constant polishing, unless you're going for the battered metal look.
I wear a platinum wedding ring. Big mistake, shiny for the first couple of months and now dull and scratched. Definitely not worth the premium.

Are these any good? Or chocolate like the Tags?

mostly ETA movements ....and not much better than TAG .......but you are helping to fuel up John Travolta's aircrafts
but it's good your thinking pre-owned
Ok so if you had £4k to spend on an Automatic Chrono Bracelet watch then what would you recommend is worth buying? but it's good your thinking pre-owned
I'm trawling the internet for Info and just seem to be getting nowhere. I'm not planning to throw my money away so at least want a starting point.
Cheers

the 2 JLC i paid £3500 for the reverso and £5500 for the Geographic .......still lucky enough to own both of them .....you can buy some loverly stuff if your patient and do a bit of research
If it's a Tag "Heuer" watch that you want for around £4k, I'd go for the Calibre 17 Automatic Chronograph:

An excellent example of the attention to detail that marks TAG out. Having made a feature of screw heads on the dial, they couldn't even get them to line up. It's this sort of thing across all aspects of the watches that makes their watches feel less special than their competitors. Yeah it's a tiny detail, not a big thing but it's all the tiny details that make the difference.I know, I know, I know. I was even the one that pointed out the relationship between Hubolt and Tag. Just amused me though

I'd sooner have a watch on my wrist that I liked, as opposed to having one that maybe I didn't like but was recommended to me by people I'd never met.
If you like TAGs, buy one, it's your money and they are great looking watches on the whole.
I do like them but its inheritance money I don't want to waste on an overpriced POS. Yes its a discounted price but I still want something with some value in it after a few years. If you like TAGs, buy one, it's your money and they are great looking watches on the whole.
The used ones you barely lose any money on if you buy wisely and keep for a year or two.
The new ones you take a hit on at resale time, but that's to be expected surely?

I'm looking at pre owned stuff now on watchfinder. Breitling is the next on my list of wants.
Are these any good? Or chocolate like the Tags?
For the price class they are in, they are the best for your money if you value quality casework and assembly as well as precision. Movements are in-house, Valjoux, and ETA. The ETAs and Vals are bought in parts and heavily modified for COSC testing, as well as highly decorated. All mvts are COSC chronometers. Are these any good? Or chocolate like the Tags?
Quality is absolutely outstanding, and they are an independent company with good service to boot. I'd put Breitling on par with Rolex for overall quality.

Thanks for that. Nice to hear some positives about these watches. Movements are in-house, Valjoux, and ETA. The ETAs and Vals are bought in parts and heavily modified for COSC testing, as well as highly decorated. All mvts are COSC chronometers.
