Choosing a TAG

The watch manufacturers are going down the line of dropping the TAG logo and reverting back to Heure, so even they know that the TAG logo devalues the watch.
As for PH snobbery that's bollards, some people know what Heure was before TAG ruined it.
Techniques d'Avant Garde saved Heuer. LVHM ruined it.As for PH snobbery that's bollards, some people know what Heure was before TAG ruined it.

These will sell by the thousands, inexpensive, Quartz, large TAG with logo, and a racing legend logo signed all over it.£8.99 PW over three years - no deposit, yes, less than a tenner a week and walk away with a Senna TAG.
Very clever marketing, but will do nothing for the brand, but who cares.
Life's too short to be worrying about the marketing pros and cons of a company making watches
I l've been a big fan of Senna since his Lotus days, and don't see anything wrong in buying a watch that I like

No it will do wonders for the brand, they will sell loads of them, people who can not stretch to the more expensive models will be able to get involved with the brand. They will realise it's a perfectly nice watch and when it dies will by another one, maybe a better one.£8.99 PW over three years - no deposit, yes, less than a tenner a week and walk away with a Senna TAG.

Do you mean they will do nothing for the brand Heuer? A brand that would have been confined to history if it was not for TAG and the Quartz watches they made during the 80s.
Those plastic F1 watches are cool, they are so representative of their time, they might not be great examples of watch making, but have ANY Heuers been shining examples of watch making?
To me Heuer made cool watches evocative of their time, similar to what Tag Heuer have done, it's just that the Heuer era is cool and retro now the Tag Heuer era a bit naff.
Would the old Heuers have the presence they do now if it was not for Tag keeping them visible? IIRC it was TAG re-issuing the old Heuers that started the rise in values, not the other way round.
For avoidance of doubt I am NOT trying to do down vintage Heuer.

All said and done it's your money, and if you like a watch and want to buy it why let somebody on here who you've never met influence your decision to buy or not?
TAGHeuer is a respectable manufacturer, which many aspire to own, I proudly wear my CAH1110 and can't wait to get the Senna Edition above when it arrives.

Nice looking watch, although Senna didn't like a bracelet.
I don't think he had much input into this one, neither was it designed with his wearing preferences in mind I'd suspect.......The same article noted that Senna hated metal bracelets and always wore a leather strap. It noted that if you look at the period photos and adverts that is the case.
I'll see if I can find the article - it's the sort of thing I might have saved.

Already have one Tag and promised myself that I'd buy something different for my next watch but that really is a lovely piece, wonder if there's some man maths somewhere that will allow me to justify a second Tag!Gassing Station | Watches | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
