Where can I get the new Ceramic Daytona?!

Fair play buddy, how did you manage to land one in the first place if you don't mind me asking, I assume you had to have bought a few pieces from your AD previously?

Yes, I was in there last weekend funnily enough I do remember putting my name on the waiting list around April time, so I went in to check if they had a clearer idea of when I could be receiving the watch and they didn't have me down on the list for some reason. So I gave my details again and now assume I am somewhere ridiculously low down in the in the pecking order. I've been to Beyer too, found the staff at Beyer to be quite snobby to be honest, and when I asked if they can source me a Daytona even though I haven't purchased anything from them previously I was greeted by a snotty smirk. For that reason I didn't bother to even get my name on their list.

I went into Bücherer a few years ago and asked and they were similar. I've had much better experiences with the boutique, which is actually owned by Bücherer too. I get regular invites from them to view models, go for drinks when the Christmas lights are turned on etc

Worked in the trade until around 18 months ago, used a contact for a favour.

I was hoping to source one for my newborn son, I've been told that there is pretty much no chance of getting one any time soon in the Middle East (I guess priority goes to their Arab customers first as they have plenty who'll buy 3-4 at a time).

Black face. With the premium people are prepared to pay, I'm going to sell it on. I liked it a lot, but these prices are too good to turn down.

They told me on Friday that the waiting list is over a year...

A year? Is that all? Is this the boutique in Old Bond Street? If it is, I'll pop in next week.

My local dealer in Herts says that I'm number 46 on their list and they're expecting 2 watches a year. That's a 23 year wait. Can anyone beat that?

No, it's in Zurich. Different countries and different dealers seem to get different allocations. When I expressed suurprise at it being 'only' a year and talked about the situation in the UK, she told me it was the same in Germany.

Thanks eyebeebe. I should have replised it was Zurich from your profile. I've enquired with Bucherer to see whether they're happy to deal with non-Swiss; it'd be worth a stopover if it helps to get a Daytona before the end of this decade. All the best to you and your new watch!

Per earlier in the thread, make sure you speak to the Rolex boutique (which is owned by Bücherer) rather than the multi-brand Bücherer which is a different shop. The attitudes of the staff about putting my name down for the old Daytona were night and day. Multi-brand pretty much laughed me out the shop. Boutique let me try on the black and white face and had one for me within 3 months. I'm also on their Christmas cards and events list, which is nice good old-fashioned marketing.

Totally agree! the guys at the boutique are much more accommodating, cant say the same for the main store a few meters away.

Well there are over 50 people on the list in Oman, Qatar is a non starter as is Dubai and the rest of the UAE so my only hope of getting one is via a friend who may be able to pull some strings in Bahrain. I'm planning on leaving the Middle East soon, seems like there is little chance of getting one before then

An update, I know miraculous have my white face Daytona! I think it was down to my local AD getting sick at the site of me paying them a visit every week asking when i'll get my watch they decided to bump me up the list (my only logical explanation). Anyway the main purpose of this post is that I can't decide whether to sell or keep! any one of you guys looking for a Daytona, give me a shout.
