Found this at my parents, it doesn't look much to me but it is an Omega...

If it's solid gold, it's worth its weight in Gold (well the case's weight).

Have a quick scan on eBay though, these watches are sought after and certainly have a value.

Short answer is yes- if looks as though it's gold (rolled or solid)and depending on age, condition and movement it could be worth £500+

It looks to be a late 60's Geneve. They were mainly gold plated (hint, if the back is stainless steel then the case will be plated). Not sure the bracelet is original.

The geneve range has a lot of variety. Here are some of mine

Ah, my mum said it was probably my Grandad's and it does have a stainless steel back (looks quite out of place/too modern and only has the wording 'stainless steel' engraved on it. So is it worth much?

I don't understand why a 60's Omega is worth a fraction of a 60's Rolex, but that's fashion for you.

Have a look on ebay sold listings for a price guide. sadly for you the colour combo isn't in fashion now, and i'd guess it is quite small (34mm?)

I could be interested in buying it, as I haven't got that model. set a price and I can only say yes or no

Snap. Here's mine that's going on eBay next week. Quite common watches unfortunately.

OP's dial is in lovely condition. I would have to disagree that Geneve was a range though, as many watches were available both with and without the branding.

Does it matter what it's worth financially?

Get it serviced, nice leather strap put on it and it's a stylish looking piece with family history.

Well tbh, its not really a sentimental part of his 'legacy'. I'd never seen it before and don't remember him having a watch tbh. its up to my mum really as she didn't know what to do with it.

That would still be a nice looking piece for occasional wear. Here's something vaguely similar I saw at Sonning Vintage watches site.

But only you know whether you'd wear it and what your Mum wants to do.

A solid gold pie-pan dial Constellation is in a different league...

Yeah, some 1960s Omegas are worth £10,000+, but yours is probably a couple of hundred quid if you can find out some more about it and that will help you locate a buyer. You might want to take it to a jeweller and take the bracelet off as it's not original; put a good quality plain black leather strap on it, get the jeweller to take the back off it and take some photos of the watch movement, which will help in selling it. You might be able to get the serial number off the movement and some inscriptions on the inside of the case back, all of which will help with the provenance of the watch.

But put simple, yes it's worth money, but it's not going to buy you a new Lotus smile

Aesthetically it isn't no. Monetarily possibly, but the OP's watch is nicer looking.

It is, and it is quality wise too.

I'm no expert and even I can see that a Constellation is a far superior item to a Geneve. A Geneve is very nice but it's a Mercedes 190 saloon against a gullwing 300 SL, or a 911T against a 1973 RS.

Beauty and all that, but the Constellation is a more sought after watch.

I must admit I always find the dial a little fussy, personally.
