Not only did I hear - I bought one!

The Combat Sub was a Goldeneye and they were available from a couple of Italian dealers who advertised online. The price was £350 from memory but it was a couple of years ago now and a quick glance more recently failed to find them again. Im not giving up hope though as Italy is a regular source of bargains.

The 42mm Combat from TKMaxx was £200 I think, or possibly £250.
Interesting, glad you managed to take advantage.

I'd be very keen on a Goldeneye for around £350! I'll need to start keeping an eye on the Italian market.

Trying to keep this thread on track, how's about Khaki Field Automatic, seem very popular on the forums.

Khaki field autos look nice but apart from the one with the date at 12 o'c they are identical to the Seiko SNK805 on my wrist that you can get for a tenth of the price.

Mine is a daily, I try to use others now and again but it just keeps finding its way onto my wrist and doing a job. It's working its way into my affections to the point that if it stopped I'd relpace it. Maybe with a blue one. However the thing isn't going to stop anytime soon, it's a 7s26 movement in a Far East case and in 3 years' use it's collected only scuffmarks and a bit of grime in the corners.

Not really. The Seiko 5 you have mentioned is tiny, and while the Hamiltons are far from oversized, they're a damned sight larger at 42mm.

If you want larger, then a Seiko 5 SNZG09J1 comes in at 40mm, Japanese made and £150. They're out there.

Im more than familiar with them. My point was that they were massively different. beyond being round, ticking etc.

Surprised nobody mentioned Christopher Ward for reasonable priced watches.

That's because people realise that theyre no longer 'reasonably priced'...
