You are entitled to your opinion, of course. Clearly we have a difference and thankfully that's why there are so many different watch brands. I don't go around calling Breitling excrement, I just don't rate them above Steinhart. ETA supply ebauches to many brands and marketing is a very powerful tool.
Breitling ETAs are bought in parts and assembled, upgraded, decorated entirely at Breitling. They don't buy completed movements and put them into the watch. They do what most quality Swiss brands do or have done. They also do in-house movements, making them a true manufacture.

And in terms of "build quality," which was your complaint, they are one of the best in the industry at their price point -- which is a good deal above Steinhart.

Steinhart makes copies homage versions of popular quality watches at very low price points. If that appeals, more power to you.

Notice that I used the term ebauches? Google it.

Quality - Crown coming loose is a major fail on a watch which has a 200m rating. I don't think that I'm alone on this.

I'm out of this one now, since you seem to want to defend them at all costs, whilst knocking Steinhart at every turn.

That's for the best, I think.

I went swimming with my breitling bentley once, came up and it was full of water and sun screen....

I had just got off the plane where I'd adjusted the time on the watch and couldn't be 100% sure it was screwed back on correctly. When I sent the watch in, I was told it would be evaluated and as a water entry they'd probably be charging me.

However the watch was serviced, the face was replaced etc and I wasn't charged a penny. I was told it was a gesture of goodwill, but I suspect that they discovered a fault either with the crown or the seal. However, regardless, it was still a nice gesture, particularly since I'd scratched the crystal face just a few weeks after purchasing it, and they swapped that out too.

Edit, just saw this was a superocean, I don't recall if it was this/all diving watches/some other brand, but arent they supposed to have an additional seal which makes them waterproof even if the crown is left open? Do a little research on that and see...
