To be fair, the couple of posters who experienced what they perceived to be poor customer service were polite and (I thought) fairly even handed about their comments.

Our overlord and barometer of good taste GC8 however....

If Variomatic is on the receiving end of some bad luck health wise, I wish him (or his loved ones) a speedy recovery, as I would any of our regular and helpful posters.

Without wishing to re-open wounds with my fellow PHers (or at least 50% of those on this post), I of course wish Vario well, and that any personal issues he has are resolved, but at the same time I am quite comfortable giving my objective feedback on his customer service, and resent what seems to be censorship for expressing it on this public forum. I get the feeling his fanboys on here may also be members of Momentum as their messianic fervour seems similar to that of Corbinistas.

This will be my last comment on this thread as I think enough has been put on record for anyone following this.

Waiting for the condescending and withering put-downs from the mob...

You could have just said "Oh,ok. Didn't know he was having issues with health / other. That would explain the break or lack of communication. I hope it gets sorted".

But you didn't.

Just got my IWC Spitfire chrono back from Joe today after he fixed a (thankfully) minor problem.

He's back in the shop and working through his backlog although he still sounds a bit wheezy after his illness. He's had a tough few months and has had to deal with some life events that a couple of us on here are closely familiar with. He's a small businessman with limited capacity. Sometimes life throws some horrendous situations your way but you deal with them and carry on going. Inevitably, during these times, some things fall into the cracks and get missed. I'm sure he's upset he can't do everything for everyone and that he has not been able to respond to all requests. I hope that by posting this comment, anyone searching or referencing his services on here gets a balanced view of things. He does a great job and provides value for money.

All the best, Joe!
