Its a lovely watch and a two fingered salute to the people that called you out.

The Royal Oak is a fine watch , personally i would plonk for a stainless Ap or a Rose gold Ap if i were to trade.

However what you have there is a watch that will outlast you , keep it and enjoy it!

Luuurvly! Did you get a winder with it?
The more I see photos of these the more I want one, which is a real kick in the pants because I know I'm unlikely to get one from our dealer here despite them promising.

Thanks, no I didn't get the watch winder, I'll probably pop in to see the AD over the next couple of weeks and ask. If not I'll pick one up online, does anyone have any recommendations?

Yes - you don't need a winder. If you are wearing the watch every day it will remain wound. Even if it does run out of steam it's not like it has a calendar complication that needs resetting.

Btw I think the original free winder may have been tongue in cheek.

It's still new and precious lol so I'm only wearing it on weekends at the moment, so may just get a winder for now. I had a feeling after it was a joke too, but you can never be too sure smile

If you are wearing it regularly, all a winder is going to do is make it need servicing earlier.

That's why Rolex are giving them away with purchases, all part of their business plan...

No it's not. These watches are designed to be worn daily, hence keeping them on a winder keeps them running as if you wore them daily. And by keeping them running and not readjusting every other day you save your watch from unnecessary wear and tear and accidental damage to the movement.

not sure why it comes up so often, and why people don't get that if the seller is giving you loads of 'free gifts' then they must be making an absolute ton of money from you. You're paying over the odds.

Yep, worn daily. Not rotated daily in the same plane and to a point where they are always fully wound.

To be honest I have never seen a compelling argument either way but I saw an opportunity to inject a bit of panto and couldn't resist. If anyone could set me up for a, "he's BEHIIIIIIND you" I'd be grateful.

you don't need a watch-winder anyway. Just give it a few cranks, set the time and wear it. How lazy do you actually need to be?

I quite like 'em.

But it's a lot of money to spaff on something I'd wear infrequently and my wife would hate me wearing it.

If you were looking for a vulgar one you should have gone for one of the sports models in gold. Nope, the day-date is quite alright. You'll just have to make up for that fact by being obnoxious yourself.
