Anyone had battery change on Omega?
Discussion
So 4 months ago my battery went dead on my 300m. I sent it to a well known high street company. They told me it had to go off to Omega for a service as well as a battery change. This cost me £250.
Today, 4 months in the future from then, it is doing the indicatory low power movement of moving the second hand every 5 second instead of every second. This makes me wonder if it got service and the battery got changed at all? Did it even get sent off to Omega? Or did the shop just pocket the money? Not going to reveal who in this thread, incase it needs to go to court. Is it even worth it over £250?
I don't really know what to do from here on. I recieved no receipt from Omega, so I can't phone them with a ref number. Help!?
Ideally I would just change the battery myself. Is this easy?

When my wife's Seamaster had its battery changed by Omega, through a high street store, it was well over £200 (Can't remember exactly how much as it was several years ago), so price seems right ball park for Omega treatment.
It too came back in a red protective case and receipts but similarly can't recall if it had a red dot.
Last year paid £70 through a recommended independent .
It came back with receipts, pressure test results and a guarantee, won't be bothering with paying Omega prices again.
I know none of that really answers your question fully, but with the right tool to open the back can't see why you can't change the battery yourself.

I have a SeaMaster Quartz. Bought new in Spain, the battery indicator started at 9 months. Took it in person to Omega Southampton who said immediatly that the watch had a three year warranty, and they'd service the watch for free. Came back looking new, in a red shipping case.
Reading the watch forums, there are complaints of 'High Street' jewellers damaging case-backs, or not servicing the watch crown and case seals, or just shipping it off to Omega for a service then adding 50%.
Omega Southampton have a postal service section, but you need to phone to book the watch in. If you have a reciept from the 'battery' replacement, and your original warranty cards they might be helpful if you explain.
Their repairs are also warranted, I understand.
