I've not worn a watch for about 6 -7 years now as I broke my last and never got to replacing it. I'm now fancying a new one and have basically zero knowledge. Not fussed if I buy now or wait for a bit but would like it sorted before July next year as I'm getting married and my girlfriend thought it would be nice to have the watch as a nice present to myself.

Id like a watch to wear everyday and also something that isnt too much for everyday wear. I'm almost office based so wouldn't get wrecked but need to be able to wear it without it falling apart.

Ive narrowed it down to either a Aquaracer which i can get one from the outlet at York for a decent price (£1200) or a Tudor black bay which i can get 25% off at Goldsmiths via my work plus anything i could negotiate off.

My heart says Tudor as i think its a great watch and seems a bit different

Thanks in advance

Get the Tudor: you'll never regret it.

I'm wearing my Black Bay today and I still love it. But I do get annoyed at the lack of a date. I honestly didn't think that would matter before I bought it in May but I regularly look at my wrist to check the date and find it's not there laugh

I know the Tudor is the correct choice so thanks for confirming . Now I need to work out how I can get the cash together to buy it I guess. I'd hoped for 0% but I cant get it if I'm having the discount via work.

No offence.

You can always count on one.....

Just to clarify i don't want to impress anyone, but fancy a nice watch for myself. I nearly got one 2 years ago for my 30th but ending up with a new bike instead. Do people actually get impressed by a £2k watch more to the point.

And without sounding like a powerfully built director , i can easily afford to buy outright but my current mission is to be mortgage free in the next 6 years so all my cash has gone towards saving for that (oh and our wedding/honeymoon). But thanks for your concern its duly noted.

Get the watch since you might be able to keep it (unlike house) once your wife decides she wants a divorce.

Another vote for the Tudor Black Bay here. I've got the Red one and it looks fantastic with a vintage leather strap.

Yes the red looks lovely too. If the black one hadn't been available then it would be red. Is yours a in house movement version?

black bays look really good - just wish they had a date.

I have a similar style Precista PRS82 .. I find not having a date a bit irritating .

have you considered the Pelagos ?.. which is also lovely, and has a date

Recently bought a black bay. So many things that I like about it (build quality, legibility, lack of date, bezel action, colour), but I just haven't bonded with it. Not sure why, but just not doing it for me.

Will soon be moved on, and I'll be trying a ceramic seamaster.

I got a 27 month interest free credit card from the Post Office to buy my Omega. You can get interest free and the discount that way. Nothing wrong with buying on credit if you can afford it. I can pay mine off immediately but if somebody's going to lend me at 0% why not take it and earn with your money in the bank?

I've got a blue Black Bay and my old man has a red and a black.

Absolutely superb, miles better than a TAG at similar money.

Utter nonsense. Nothing more tiresome than the constant Tag bashing, most of the time seemingly because it's the 'done thing'.

So which one did you get at full RRP?
