Rolex Stolen off my wrist in Barcelona

My Rolex was taken off my wrist in the Gothic area of Barcelona too. You can register your theft with Rolex UK who keep a record of stolen watches. There is a chance that if your watch turns up for a service or sale at an official dealer world wide it will get flagged.
Sorry for your misfortune. Do you mind me asking: was it done with slight of hand or with force/coercion?My story today
Withdrew some cash from bank. Not important how much but enough that it exceeded the ATM limit for my account
Cash handed to me in an envelope which I put in my messenger bag and zipped up
I'm in an unfamiliar place so gathering my bearings and using Google maps to navigate to the train station on foot. It's about ten mins away
I sense I'm being followed and as I approach a crossing, I have a good look round and see two women. I feel more relaxed
I get close to the train station and these two women seem as confused and lost as me. I'm trying to work out where the entrance is.
We all enter the station at the same time. I make my way to the platform. One of the women asks me if the train goes to Clapham. I say I'm not sure. She asks again. I say the same. I turn around and the other woman is walking past me
I bring my messenger bag to the front and it's unzipped. st.
I check and the cash is still there
Another 1-3 seconds and cash would have been swiped I think
Now that I know my cash is safe, I approach the women saying "you're very good". Stick my phone in their face and get pics. They don't protest, just turn their head a walk away briskly
One is wearing a mask. Other is not. The one who did the unzipping is not wearing a mask
I report to British Transport Police later and they tell me they cannot allocate an officer to investigate. They say this is a high volume crime being done in too great a volume to be able to allocate resources to investigate
Bonkers
Had I assaulted the women in any way, that'd have been investigated. But they can very nearly steal my hard earned cash and police are not interested
Given this happened in a train station, I'm pretty sure it would have been on cctv

From the comments: "This has been going on for years. Started around 2007-2009. It’s called “trick rolls”. Young women flock to casino bars on the Las Vegas strip looking for stuck men. They usually chat the men up and at some point convince the men to bring the women to his hotel room. While in the room the women wait for the guy to “pass out” from being drunk or drugged. The women then steal all the guys money and valuables and leave. I don’t believe any women have successfully been prosecuted due to the men are usually from another country and when they leave Las Vegas they never return for court proceedings. Many women have been arrested. But they bail out and during this time the victim usually take a flight back to his country, never to return. The case is therefore “dropped”. Also Clark county court system is known to be soft on crime. The city attracts a lot of criminals based on the court system history of soft prosecution criminals."
So if you fall for girls hitting on you think twice. You may end up with lighter wrists and a hangover that keeps on giving.

I read "The man was staying in the Cosmopolitan hotel in June when he met McCray and a second woman, according to the police report. He made it clear to police that "he knew the females were probably prostitutes" but allowed them access to his room so they could rest because they were tired. Police reported that "he was not interested in anything of the sort" and only let them sleep and eat in his room, where he found them there at 2 a.m. and joined them to sleep until about six hours later." ... and was immediately reminded of Ron ...GilletteFan said:

The suggestion that they are soft on crime really surprises me about Las Vegas. I have been numerous times over the years, and the one thing that struck me from talking to locals and taxi drivers etc, is how utterly ruthless the police are at catching criminals who target tourists. The entire existence of Vegas is based on it being a tourist destination, and they will protect that at all costs. Tourists being safe is absolutely paramount. Here are some stories out of the US

I remember talking to a cab driver out there years ago about that exact 'trick-rolling' scam and his exact words were that the police in Vegas are "fking relentless" until they catch them.

I have always had the habit, whether entertaining a guest or not, of putting my wallet, watch and all valuable items in the safe whenever I return to my room. Here are some stories out of the US

Funnily enough the only time I lost my wallet was in Vegas. I reported it to the hotel manager and he asked if I returned with anyone. I was a little drunk but insisted I always put things in the safe and, as it was a drawer safe, suggested that perhaps it fell down the back, behind the drawer. The manager was adamant that couldn't happen, but I kicked up a fuss, so they sent a guy with a toolkit to take the safe apart. I'm not entirely sure whether I was feeling surprised or smug when he found the wallet behind the drawer.

I think I get what you are saying. A little persistence goes a long way!Funnily enough the only time I lost my wallet was in Vegas. This time the investigators got stuck right into it and ended up in the thick of things.
